Country star Morgan Wallen has donated $500,000 to help victims and relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Helene after it has ravaged parts of the southeastern states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, and Virginia.

In a post on his Instagram Story, the 31-year-old country singer wrote that his “family in East Tennessee are safe but I know many are absolutely devastated there and in multiple states.”

“It is going to take a monumental effort and I am in contact with my team and others working on ways I can help,” he added.

Red Cross’ National President for Humanitarian Services, Trevor Riggin, later shared a thank you to Wallen for his donation through his Morgan Wallen Foundation.

“We can’t thank Morgan Wallen enough for his heart and generous $500,000 donation to impact help on the ground now in the areas affected by Hurricane Helene, including his beloved East Tennessee,” Riggin said.

Hurricane Helene made landfall late last week and by Tuesday, the Associated Press reported at least 150 deaths across multiple states, including 30 people killed in the county where Asheville, North Carolina, is located, and efforts to provide relief to flooded areas were ongoing.

Wallen’s donation is the first major one reported from a celebrity to the hurricane relief efforts, People magazine noted.

A GoFundMe authorized by former President Donald Trump has also taken in donations to help those affected by the hurricane, with large amounts from singer Kid Rock and UFC’s Dana White.

One post about the donations on X read, “Trump took Matters into his own Hands and Launched a GoFundMe to Help Support those Affected by Hurricane Helene”…“Top Donors: Senator Kelly Loeffler $500k, Dan Newlin $100k, Bass Pro shops $100k, Kid Rock $20k. If you’d like to donate, do so here.”

A description of the GoFundMe reads, “President Donald J. Trump has launched this GoFundMe campaign as an official response for MAGA supporters to offer their financial assistance to their fellow Americans impacted by Hurricane Helene.”

“With so many across the Southeastern U.S. facing challenges after the storm, President Trump is on the ground in communities to see the aftermath firsthand,” it added. “All donations will be directed to help those most affected by Hurricane Helene. Any level of generosity will go a long way for your fellow Americans who are suffering.”

At the time of this publication, the crowd-funded account surpassed its goal of $1,000,000 with more than $3,000,000 and counting.
