Reconciliation doesn’t let GOP slash big issues of waste that need fixing. But one big change could save Medicade but Dems HATE it.
Officially, anyone not lawfully present in the country has no right to benefits paid for by taxpayer funds. This is paticularly true of direct government handouts for food, housing, and medical care.
But we all know that The Swamp has a long list of little tricks it can pull to enshrine in actual practice what is not legally permissible. DACA, for instance, comes to mind.
You may have noticed that Democrats have been trying to whip up their usual panic over objections to the GOP’s policy initiatives, painting horror stories about who is going to be harmed by this or that alleged cut to spending categories that — under the rules of how the Big Beautiful Bill’s reconciliation process — the GOP isn’t even allowed to alter.
That kind of change takes sixty votes in the Senate to pass through.
Here’s their propaganda talking point:
Here’s the crux of the problem:
It serves as a reminder on the tension between the reconciliation bill that activates some Trump priorities on the economy and the border, including making the 2017 tax cuts permanent… against the other important priority of getting a handle on the debt situation before it devours the entire economy.
Now, after 4 years of profligate spending (like the $2 Billion being directed to a Stacey Abrams initiative that didn’t even exist the year before) that does more to fund people with government connections than serve the national interest, Dems are pretending to be concerned about budget bloat. At the very same time, they pretend to care about people endangered by budget cuts.
With predictions of insolvency looming ever-closer, and no public appetite for changing age of eligibility, or other factors, there is an option that the Dems refuse to entertain.
The solution to his problem is as simple as it is elegant: stop diverting to non-citizens the money from programs designed to benefit US citizens.
As explained by Trump’s Press Sec:
BREAKING. President Trump has instructed the U.S. Senate to REMOVE ALL 1.4 MILLION illegal aliens from Medicaid to put Americans FIRST, per Karoline Leavitt.

President Trump wants to prioritize the sick, needy and poor, not the 1.4 illegal aliens that have been receiving them.
Incentives matter:
