Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) is calling out the Biden administration’s role in toppling the regime of Syrian president Bashar Al Assad and handing control of the country to a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.

In an interview with former Fox News anchor Clayton Morris, Massie said the nomination of former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence (DNI) was seen by members of the deep state as a signal to “go in for the kill” because the Trump administration is not expected to “carry on the policies of Obama and the deep state.”

Watch Below:

Massie and Gabbard have both been longtime collaborators on efforts to stop U.S. meddling in Syria and Massie doesn’t believe the timing is a mistake.

Massie said, whether the overthrow of Assad “was led by the United States or whether we just encouraged it, definitely the timing is not a mistake.”

The Kentucky Congressman pointed out that when Israel used their military power to destroy Syrian jets and helicopters, they did so to ensure that Assad wouldn’t have access the resources he needed to respond to the opposition forces that ultimately assumed control of the country.

Massie has consistently voted against U.S. intervention in Syria, warning in 2014 that “it is disingenuous for the Administration to tell the American public that we are arming Syrian rebels to fight ISIS when the Administration’s stated objective is to topple the secular government of Syria, a government which has not committed aggression against the United States.”

At that time, Massie added, “If the goal of arming and training so-called moderate Syrian rebels is to eliminate ISIS, the plan will not work.”

Since the toppling of Assad’s regime, the Biden administration has been taking credit for creating the conditions that have led to U.S.-designated terrorist organizations, including Al Qaeda and ISIS helping to  overthrow the Syrian government and pushing Assad out.
