A recent poll shows that 4 in 10 consumers are boycotting certain businesses because of political beliefs, according to a report.

The poll found that liberal consumers’ views had shifted over the last few months, noting that at least 24% of respondents had stopped shopping at their favorite stores because of a perceived shift in the companies’ political views, according to the Guardian.

Shoppers have reportedly dropped stores such as Target for ending diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, a move that includes eliminating hiring goals for minorities in a new strategy the company referred to as “staying in step with the evolving external landscape.”

Both Democrats and Republicans were reported as dropping their favorite stores due to perceived political views, but more Democrats, 45%, reported doing so versus 34% of Republicans. Conservatives boycotted Target last year as a result of its line of LGBT-themed pride merchandise.

More than one-third of respondents, 36%, said they were “opting out” of the economy to avoid politics altogether, the poll found.
