Liberal establishment journalists have unveiled the true victims of the Trump assassination attempts their hyperbolic propaganda helps inspire — namely, themselves.

Via Fox News:

Former NBC News anchor Chuck Todd was mocked by critics across the political spectrum on Monday for declaring he wouldn’t attend events featuring President Donald Trump going forward because he doesn’t “feel safe.” …

“I’m not going to any more events where Trump’s at. I don’t feel safe…. If you decide to go into his orbit, you have become less safe,” Todd said during a podcast conversation with former CNN pundit Chris Cillizza.

It isn’t the bloodthirsty liberal mob that makes for a lack of safety; it is Trump’s “orbit.” The intrepid Todd would rather hide under his bed and whimper than face the danger. Good thing he isn’t a war correspondent.

Typically, Todd seizes on the latest leftist attempt to kill Trump as an opportunity to slander him and to blame him for violence:

Todd’s response might have been influenced by comparably courageous former CBS News Capitol Hill correspondent Scott MacFarlane. Fox News reported last July:

Americans reeled in shock from the attempt on Trump’s life during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, but MacFarlane said he had personal trauma from the crowd’s immediate rage in response.

“For those of us there, it was such a horror because you saw an emerging America,” MacFarlane told Todd on his podcast. “And it wasn’t the shooting, Chuck. This was – I got diagnosed with PTSD within 48 hours. I got put on trauma leave, not because, I think, of the shooting, but because you saw it in the eyes, the reaction of the people.”

This offers insight into how antagonistically the media views regular Americans:

“They were coming for us,” he said in the clip flagged by The Daily Caller. “If [Trump] didn’t jump up with his fist, they were going to come kill us!”

“I know,” Todd agreed.

No one is coming to kill them; all the violence in this country comes from their fellow moonbats. But we might consider bringing back the tar and feather treatment.

Then MacFarlane linked his paranoid trauma and hatred of America to the kerfuffle on January 6:

“I can’t eliminate from my mind’s eye the look in their faces. That’s what America is right now. It’s not rational. It’s an irrational thought to think the media shot somebody from the top of a building, but the lack of rationality is what connects January 6 to this.”

There is one thing impressive about mainstream media journalists: their astonishing ability to take themselves seriously.
