Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, at one time, desired to co-host the infamous talk show, “The View.” However, according to a new report, things didn’t go the way she hoped.
Jean-Pierre has been looking for a new role after her tenure as White House press secretary ever since the Democrats lost power in Washington. Earlier in the week, she announced she would be leaving the Democratic Party and revealed a new book coming this fall. The book will go into detail about the weeks leading up to former President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.
Officials who previously worked in the Biden administration spoke with Politico, revealing that Jean-Pierre had hopes of being on “The View,” but no offer was made.
The former press secretary traveled to New York to make an appearance on the program in March. She was reportedly hoping that several lengthy profiles, coupled with the visit on “The View,” would lead to a job on the program. After that fell through, she started writing “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside Party Lines.”
Jean-Pierre reveals the reason she ditched the Democrats in the book, claiming it was because of the “betrayal” of Biden. During that period of time, the Democratic Party was making calls for Biden to drop out of the race due to cognitive decline. The decline was impossible to ignore after the first presidential debate with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.
In a video released on Wednesday, the newly registered independent said the American people need to be “thinking outside of our boxes” and quit being “so partisan.”
“And here’s the truth, and here’s how I will lay it out to you. I think we need to stop thinking in boxes and think outside of our boxes, and not be so partisan. And the way that I see moving forward in this space that we’re in right now is if you are willing to stand side by side with me, regardless of your political — how you identify politically, and as long as you respect the community that I belong to and vulnerable communities that I respect, I will be there with you. I will be, I will move forward with you,” Jean-Pierre stated in the video.
During her time as press secretary, Jean-Pierre appeared several times on “The View,” defending the former president’s cognitive abilities, levying some false statements against Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and his abortion bill in 2022, and getting teary-eyed when discussing Biden dropping out of the race.
She told the American people Biden was “sharp” and was in overall great health, referring to videos showcasing his obvious plummeting faculties as “cheap fakes.”
She also assured the press that Biden wouldn’t offer his son, Hunter Biden, a pardon over his felony gun conviction and tax charges. Then Biden turned around and pardoned Hunter for all actions between Jan. 1, 2024, and Dec. 1, 2024.
