Tensions between SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and President Donald Trump are continuing to ratchet up. The president took to Truth Social, where he penned two posts in response to the wild statements and heavy criticism being slung around by Musk on X, the social media company he owns.

In one post, President Trump said that Elon was “wearing thin.” He then says that he asked Musk to leave. Trump says he “took away Musk’s electric vehicle mandate,” from the “big, beautiful bill,” which would have forced people to buy electric cars that nobody wanted.

Apparently, Musk knew Trump was going to take this course of action for months, but when the time came for it to happen, the president said, “he just went CRAZY!”

The other post read, “The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it.”

As is to be expected, the rift growing between Trump and Musk is creating a schism within their base of supporters. One individual who responded to the post on X referred to Musk as a “fair weather friend.”

To be fair, earlier this week, the Tesla CEO referred to the “big, beautiful bill” as a “disgusting abomination,” though he steered clear of attacking the president, despite his having thrown his full support behind the legislation.

All of that changed on Thursday afternoon when Musk lashed out at Trump.

During a press event earlier in the day, Trump expressed his frustration with the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency’s opposition to the bill. He suggested that his motives for hating the legislation are because it lacks subsidies for electric vehicles.

“I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here, better than you people. He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it,” President Trump explained. “All of a sudden, he had a problem, and he only developed the problem when he found out that we’re gonna have to cut the EV mandate.”

Musk immediately responded to Trump’s comments, saying, “False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”

In a reply made to a different post on X, Musk fired a proverbial shot directly at the president, saying he wouldn’t have won the election without him.

“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,” Musk said.

During the press event, the president attempted to downplay the verbal fisticuffs he and Musk are currently engaged in, saying, “He’s not the first. People leave my administration and they love us. And then, at some point, they miss it so badly. And some of them embrace it, and some of them actually become hostile. I don’t know what it is. It’s sort of Trump Derangement Syndrome, I guess they call it.”
