TLDR: James Comey claimed he deleted the post because he “didn’t know” posting ‘8647’ was a call for violence against the sitting president.

Newsflash: we weren’t born yesterday.

And, nobody is buying Comey’s lame attempt to backtrack.

And, not the FBI, DHS, or Secret Service.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced that James Comey is now under investigation.

The FBI is partnering with Secret Service, who has primary jurisdiction in the investigation.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem also announced that the DHS and Secret Service are investigating Comey:

Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey just called for the assassination of @POTUS Trump.

DHS and Secret Service is investigating this threat and will respond appropriately.

NBC News reported:

A spokesperson for the Secret Service, which is part of DHS, said the agency “vigorously investigates anything that can be taken as a potential threat against our protectees.”

“We are aware of the social media posts by the former FBI director and we take rhetoric like this very seriously. Beyond that, we do not comment on protective intelligence matters,” Anthony Guglielmi, the agency’s chief of communications said in a statement.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is also calling for James Comey to be arrested over his threat:
