As WLT Reported earlier on Wednesday, the illegal immigrant who was charged with murdering nursing student Laken Riley has been found guilty on all charges.

Jose Ibarra, 26, has been found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape, aggravated battery, obstructing a person making an emergency call, tampering with evidence, and peeping Tom.

Athens-Clarke County Judge H. Patrick Haggard found Ibarra guilty on all counts after he waived his right to trial by jury.

Judge Haggard has now sentenced Ibarra to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The man accused of killing 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley while she was out for a run on the University of Georgia campus will spend the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty on all charges.

Athens-Clarke County Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard handed down his decision following the four-day-long bench trial on Wednesday, convicting 26-year-old Jose Ibarra of murdering Riley in the woods behind UGA’s intramural fields just after 9 a.m. on the morning of Feb. 22.

Ibarra was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the brutal killing.

The man accused of killing Georgia nursing student Laken Riley was found guilty of murder Wednesday in a case that became a flashpoint in the immigration debate earlier this year, ahead of the presidential election.

Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, was convicted on three counts of felony murder and counts of malice murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape and “peeping Tom.” He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, in line with the request from prosecutors.
