Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) has launched an effort to declare June as ‘Family Month’ to counter ‘Pride Month.’

According to The Daily Wire, the resolution has the support of Moms for America, the American Family Project, the Family Research Council, the Eagle Forum, and others.

Republican Reps. Michael Cloud, Harriet Hageman, Barry Moore, Diana Harshbarger, Randy Weber, Troy Nehls, Mark Harris, and Michael Rulli are co-sponsors of the resolution.

“The American family is under relentless attack from a radical leftist agenda that seeks to erase truth, redefine marriage, and confuse our children,” Miller told The Daily Wire.

“By recognizing June as Family Month, we reject the lie of ‘Pride’ and instead honor God’s timeless and perfect design. If we truly want to restore our nation, we must stand united to protect and uphold the foundation upon which it was built — the family,” she added.

The resolution comes amid heavy pushback against gender ideology from President Donald Trump’s administration. The president has enacted multiple executive orders banning transgender procedures for children, men in women’s sports and spaces, and inappropriate sexual or gender content in schools.

The Daily Wire first reported on Monday that the Education Department has declared June “Title IX Month” in recognition of the 53rd anniversary of the historic legislation’s passage, opting out of celebrating “Pride Month” as President Joe Biden’s administration had done.

Miller’s resolution is a strongly-worded repudiation of the ideological gender principles pushed by activists over the last decade. It describes the traditional nuclear family as “the foundation of a healthy society” and states that mothers and fathers “play a crucial and irreplaceable role in the upbringing of their children.”

It also states that the “best environment for children to thrive is a home with a married mother and father,” and it points to the high divorce rate in the United States and the rise in young people delaying or forgoing marriage and family, pointing out that “many tax and welfare policies encourage cohabitation and penalize couples for getting married.”

“The birth rate in the United States has fallen below the replacement level needed to replenish the population and sustain the economy,” the resolution notes.

“America is currently at a crossroads. We can either continue down a path of cultural decay or we can return to the timeless truths that have always sustained us. If we want to preserve our nation for future generations, we must reject pride and rebuild the family,” Miller said.

The family is the bedrock of human civilization. It is the first institution created by God and the cornerstone upon which thriving societies are built. Strong families raise strong children, who grow into responsible citizens, courageous leaders, and the hard-working patriots our nation depends upon. Without strong families, America simply cannot survive.

However, over the past four years under the Biden administration, we’ve watched an aggressive cultural movement seek to dismantle the idea of a traditional family by redefining marriage and gender, and celebrating lifestyles that reject biblical truth. Our country has lost its moral clarity. Instead of promoting family values, the Biden White House prioritized an agenda of so-called “Pride”— pride in delusion, pride in immorality, and pride in self-gratification.

Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Pride leads to destruction, and nowhere is that more clear than in the abandonment of the family. Pride in rebellion against God’s design for marriage, sex, and parenthood will only bring further harm to our country, our culture, and our children.

The consequence has become a national crisis. Fewer Americans are getting married. Young people are being told that children are a burden rather than a blessing. And now, alarming CDC reports show that American birth rates have reached record lows. We are witnessing a civilizational decline unfold before our very eyes.
