Nobody expected that JD Vance would kick off his trip to Germany by dropping a speech that would exposed European hypocrisy so badly their leaders would be weeping with outrage days later.

But that’s exactly what happened.

For anyone who missed it, or would like to catch it again, the full 20-minute speech itself is here:

The part that really enraged Europe was when he gave specific examples of European nations criminalizing expressions of speech that most Americans wouldn’t bat an eye at.

He called them out. To their faces.

Americans praised him, with numerous comparisons to Regan’s Brandenburg Gate speech where he had the audacity to challenge Gorby to ‘tear down this wall’.

Trump loved it.

But the Germans were very upset that JD exposed their true natures on the international stage.

And here is a panel explaining that what amounts to Free Speech in America is a criminal offense in Germany… as if that was a good thing. (Making Vance’s point for him.)

In case you thought the Stasi died when the wall came down, it didn’t. It was just absorbed into the culture.

And our media, who ought to be the biggest champions of free speech since their entire business model relies on 1st Amendment protections, was no better than the Germans:

It’s almost as if our Press has a lot in common with the East German Stasi.
