Late Tuesday night, a former Biden White House security staffer was arrested after allegedly killing his girlfriend.

25-year-old Nation Wood, who once posed proudly with Kamala Harris outside of a presidential jet, had his first court hearing today.

He is pleading “not guilty” to an involuntary manslaughter charge in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 22-year-old Samantha Erge.

Nation Wood, 25, former advance security for Biden (and into Trump’s term), allegedly shot and killed his 22-year-old girlfriend Samantha Emge, a recent SFSU grad, in their Sunset District home.

Cops say it may have been unintentional (involuntary manslaughter charge). Wood claims he was dry-firing a gun that was loaded.

Investigators said the shooting may have been accidental

Wood was charged with involuntary manslaughter and remains in San Francisco County jail

Wood previously worked as a part-time security staffer connected to the White House

The U.S. Secret Service said he was not a member of the agency.

Nation claims that the death of his girlfriend was an accident.

He says that he was “dry-firing” his gun and didn’t realize it was loaded.

Apparently, the bullet traveled through the wall of his San Francisco home and hit Samantha while she was in the shower.

The San Francisco Standard reported:

A man accused of killing his girlfriend Tuesday night in the Sunset told police he accidentally shot her through the wall while she was showering, according to a source familiar with the case.

Nation Wood, 25, said he was “dry-firing” his gun at his apartment and didn’t realize it was loaded when a round went through the wall and struck Samantha Emge, 22, according to the source.

Wood was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. At a court hearing Friday afternoon, San Francisco Superior Court Judge Christopher Hu set Wood’s bail at $300,000.

The San Francisco Police Department said officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of 22nd Avenue at about 10:43 p.m. Tuesday and found a woman who had been shot. The victim, later identified as Emge, a San Francisco resident and 2025 graduate of San Francisco State University, was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Whether this was a tragic accident or an intentional murder, it’s definitely not something you want to hear about someone who considers themselves to be a security professional!

Either he’s a murderer, or he’s completely incompetent, and an innocent young woman still lost her life.

The New York Post has more on this guy’s job history in relation to the White House:

Wood identified himself as a part-time security staffer who worked with Biden’s White House Secret Service team starting in November 2023 on his LinkedIn profile.

He worked at the White House through July 2025, finishing out his term under President Donald Trump, according to his LinkedIn page that lists him as an “independent pre-event site security advisor.”

Wood said on LinkedIn that he worked as advance security, providing “external advisory site security assessments for events with VIP attendance.”

“Experience includes site walkthroughs and advance coordination alongside U.S. Secret Service for senior government and high-net-worth principals,” his LinkedIn states…

Wood was a political science and government major at SFSU, graduating in May 2024, according to his LinkedIn account.

The alleged killer shared a photo showing him smiling with Harris and her husband, former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, in front of a presidential jet in 2024.

Wood grins in the photo with the VP and other dignitaries taken on a tarmac before a jet engine painted the distinctive blue of U.S. presidential airplanes.

“Very grateful to have had the opportunity to help the VP with her trip to APEC in San Francisco,” the post reads.

The post is an apparent reference to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, which was an international summit of world powers hosted in San Francisco and attended by Harris.

Coincidentally, one of Jill Biden’s Secret Service agents accidentally shot himself at an airport earlier today.
