According to recent data, the number of abortions performed in the state of Florida dropped by 14.1% resulting in 12,100 fewer abortions.
“It was the steepest decline in abortions across the country, South Carolina has the second-largest decline, with 3,500 fewer abortions in 2024 compared to 2023,” The USA Today Network reported. We at Florida Right to Life congratulate our fellow National Right to Life affiliate in South Carolina.
We are thrilled by this decline in Florida and believe that it is only the beginning of an even sharper decline next year. This is the result of a hard-fought victory both in the State legislature and in the Florida Supreme Court.
In 2022, Florida passed a 15-week abortion bill, which was challenged by Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and other pro-abortion groups. After the U.S. Supreme Court struck the unconstitutional Roe v. Wade decision in Dobbs, we went to work to get a stronger bill.

State Senator Erin Grall sponsored a 6-week abortion bill which passed the legislature on April 13, 2023. Our pro-life Governor Ron Desantis quickly signed the bill into law.
In April 2024, the Florida Supreme Court upheld the state’s 15-week bill by 6-1. That cleared the way for the 6-week bill to go into effect the next month.
I was pleased to stand next to the bill’s sponsor and the Governor.
Thankfully and prayerfully, last November, Amendment 4,
the proposed amendment to the state constitution, was defeated! If passed, it would have allowed for abortion through birth and eliminated clinic regulations and Parental Consent
We really dodged a bullet as the pro-abortion PAC spent more than 110 million dollars to deceive Floridians into voting for this radical amendment. We have work to do as Amendment 4 garnered 57% of the vote.
I believe had Florida Right to Life not been involved in the fight against amendment four, it may have passed!
We at Florida Right to Life will continue fighting for and defending all innocent life. We are so thankful for this drop, but we realize there is so much more to do to make abortion unthinkable in the wonderful and free state of Florida.
