The feds say they stopped a Halloween nightmare before it could begin.
FBI Director Kash Patel jumped on X early Friday, revealing agents busted multiple suspects in Michigan who were allegedly gearing up for a violent strike over the holiday weekend — when millions of Americans will be out trick-or-treating and partying.
Details are tight-lipped for now. Patel didn’t say how many suspects were nabbed or what exactly they were plotting, only promising more information soon.
The FBI’s Detroit field office confirmed agents were crawling through Dearborn and Inkster on Friday morning “conducting law enforcement activities,” adding, “There is no current threat to public safety,” according to public affairs officer Jordan Hall.
The Bureau’s national HQ declined to comment on the near-disaster to the Daily Mail.
The news broke just hours after President Donald Trump returned from a week in Asia and kicked off Halloween festivities at the White House, handing candy to costumed kids alongside First Lady Melania Trump on the South Lawn.
Then Patel made it official, posting: “This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend. More details to come.”
He followed up with praise for law enforcement: “Thanks to the men and women of FBI and law enforcement everywhere standing guard 24/7 and crushing our mission to defend the homeland.”
Michigan, which flipped red in 2024, remains one of the nation’s most competitive battlegrounds — with a Democratic governor and Senate, a Republican-controlled House, and Detroit, a crime-plagued Democratic stronghold regularly blasted by Trump and GOP lawmakers for failed leadership under Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Federal officials say more information on the alleged plot will be released soon. For now, law enforcement insists there is no active threat — and Halloween celebrations are moving forward as the country waits to learn what could have unfolded.
