Erika Kirk is facing the worst days of her life right now, but there are ugly people on social media who have zero compunctions about mocking her or tearing her down.

Thankfully, Erika Kirk is unlikely to actually see any of the comments from the ghouls who are lurking under rocks on places like Bluesky, or X. She has a whole lot more going on right now that needs her immediate attention, like two little children who are now without a father. However, Erika composed herself and spoke via the Turning Point USA platform – from Charlie Kirk’s podcast/radio studio – to thank people for their help and kindness (especially Vice President Vance and the Second Lady, and President Trump), and address what will happen to Turning Point USA without Charlie.

“My husband laid down his life for me, for our nation, for our children,” Erika said as she stood behind a podium bearing a sign of her late husband’s face with the text: “May Charlie be received into the merciful arms of Jesus, our loving Savior.”

“Now and for all eternity, he will stand at his savior’s side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr.”

The bereaved wife – wearing an emerald green shirt, white blazer, and silver cross – paused several times to catch her breath, wipe away tears and speak directly to her departed husband during her roughly 16-minute remarks.

After thanking first responders for trying to save her sweetheart and law enforcement for catching his killer, she firmly vowed to uphold Kirk’s legacy and not let those who took his life silence his mission and voice.

“The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done,” she said.

“They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love. They should all know this: if you thought my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea, you have no idea what you have unleashed across this entire country and this world,” she said passionately.

“You have no idea the fire you have ignited within his wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry. To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die. It won’t, I refuse to let that happen.”

“No one will ever forget my husband’s name,” Erika declared. “I will make sure of it.”

While Erika Kirk had to stop and compose herself at different times, even as she vowed that Turning Point USA’s campus tours would continue, the most heartwrenching part of her remarks was when she talked about having to tell her three year old daughter that her Daddy wasn’t coming home.

Losing a parent at that age creates a void in a child’s life that can never be filled again. Erika Kirk should have never have had to try to tell her daughter in digestible three year old terms that Daddy was never going to be coming home again. She shouldn’t have to be vowing to continue her husband’s life’s work on his behalf because he was assassinated. And she shouldn’t have to know that the dregs of X and Bluesky are now slandering her for having the temerity to speak. Mary Katharine Ham, who went through widowhood herself, was especially furious as Wajahat Ali, who fancies himself a deep thinker and writer, decided to slime Erika Kirk and Turning Point USA in the same breath.

Ali got roundly criticized on X, but found a much more “receptive” audience for the same comment on Bluesky.

And then there are the random haters, who have nothing better to do with their lives than complain that Erika Kirk dared to speak up at all, and wish awful and horrible things on her and her children.

Erika Kirk had to have known that by stepping forward, she would attract the same haters that Charlie did – and one of those haters murdered him. And yet she stepped forward anyway, in order to carry her husband’s memory forward by making sure his organization can keep growing and moving. She still has to plan a funeral that the president will attend. And she has two little ones to raise without their father by her side. Pray for her – she remarked that she doesn’t remember the last time she slept. She’s running on raw adrenaline right now, and needs an extraordinary amount of support and grace to make it through the hard days ahead. But she has refused to be silent, because Charlie Kirk was never silent. Erika Kirk is determined to go forward for Charlie’s sake, and we all saw that in her grief and her strength.
