(NewsNation) — Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly attempted to break down Casandra “Cassie” Ventura‘s apartment door with a hammer after the 2016 attack in a Los Angeles hotel room, according to testimony on Monday from the singer’s former friend.
Kerry Morgan, a reluctant witness, testified in the Combs’ federal sex crimes trial that the hammer-wielding rapper chased down Ventura after the 2016 Intercontinental hotel violent assault to her home in Los Angeles. Ventura returned home with a black eye, Morgan said.
Morgan, the then-best friend of Ventura’s, said she witnessed Combs “banging on the door with a hammer,” saying the incident left her terrified.
She said Ventura appeared to show little emotion and acted as if she did not care if Combs “came in and killed her.”
Combs did not gain access to the apartment, she said. Police officers were called a few hours after the frightening incident; however, a police report was not filed.

Morgan testified that she witnessed Combs assault Ventura twice, pulling her hair, pushing her, and kicking her. She said on the stand that Ventura was “owned” by Combs, and that the up-and-coming artist’s career was under his complete control.
“He was in charge of her career,” Morgan said. “She would’ve lost all of her livelihood.”
Combs is facing federal racketeering and sex trafficking criminal charges. If he is found guilty, he could spend his life in prison. He has pleaded not guilty.
