We in the Estados Unidos are literally supporting both the peasants and the politicos south of the Rio Grande, and the folks down there think it is just grand. We in America have become the cash cow that continues to be milked for – and of – all we’re worth and that’s not even considering those States such as California that used to belong to Mexico but are now a permanent burden on the rest of the nation. So far, Americans have cowered in fear even though we’ve had the ability to overpower the forces perpetrating this extraction of our wealth. Today, we continue to feed the coffers of countries South of the border via numerous subsidies, foreign aid and absorbing into our culture and economy the increasing masses of migrants via welfare programs and other “disbursements.” What’s not usually either noticed or commented upon is the much larger movement of money flowing southward via what are termed “remittances;” that is, payments by family members (legal or otherwise) living in the US to family members remaining south of the border.

Mexico has enjoyed exceedingly low unemployment rates for years and this is not only because untold numbers of US manufacturing jobs have been outsourced south, but because Mexico encourages its unemployed and poverty-stricken peasants to sneak into the US where they will find a means of “earning a living.” This serves many purposes: first, it allows Mexico to retain its low unemployment stats; second, it saves the Mexican government loads of dough when it comes to social welfare programs, and, finally, in terms of crime and discontent, Mexico is able to move its rowdy rabble over our border where the Mexican drug lords easily recruit “mules” to transport large quantities of illegal drugs into the States. Of course, the US is forced to deal with the crime these hordes bring with them once they are here. There is also an inordinately large amount of human trafficking embedded in these flows. The same scenarios apply to the Central and South American migrants. The benefits of this one- way flow of people are too beautiful and bountiful for the bandidos to ignore. Under Biden, this parasitic project was purposefully promoted, reaching historic levels.

Recently, the newly anointed/installed socialist president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum appears to have threatened the US because we have been “making noises” over a proposed tax on these remittances. A proposed 3% tax on these remittances has been increasingly bandied about, with a few lawmakers even suggesting a much larger 15% tax. In response, Scheinbaum has actually threatened that Mexicans in the US would “mobilize” in reaction to any fees. And as we have seen with recent Los Angeles riots, this threat is not idle though we have also seen that the unresponsive Biden Administration is no longer in place allowing us to be thus blackmailed. Indeed, President Trump might actually enjoy showing Ms. Sheinbaum that America is no longer the hemisphere’s doormat!

Financially, Mexico received over $65 billion in remittances in 2024. In other words, the Mexican economy enjoys a boost of over $65 billion a year just by encouraging illegals to cross the border. To put this in proper perspective, Mexico’s entire social welfare budget in 2024 was $30 billion, or about half of what the country gets in remittances from the US. Mexico’s tourism industry generated about $32 billion annually – again about half of what these remittances generate.

We must also keep in mind that a dollar buys much more in Mexico than it does in the US. The median price of a 3-bedroom home in the US is $320,000, whereas in Mexico such a home would go for $100,000 or less. This is yet another reason illegals rush across the border as even when they are working for 30% less in wages, they still triple the buying power or more of their money in their home country when they wire those dollars back home. Panic and protests among the Mexican and other peasants here is thus a certainty if a tax on remittances is established though Americans can take some comfort in knowing that we no longer have a “push-over” federal government in these matters.

Finally, when we consider matters other than the ill-gotten money obtained by the illegals here, it is obvious that the massive numbers of such illegals remaining in the country cause increases in demands for goods, services, and housing quite apart from the strain on our legal system, police, jails, prisons etc. When you add to this the massive welfare payments these masses receive, you have the recipe for runaway inflation and the deterioration of our nation’s culture and way of life.

Usually, in most international “arrangements,” each side gains something even if one side does better in the bargain. However, our present “arrangement” with Mexico and the rest of Central America is entirely one sided, and we Americans are not the winners.
