The culling of bloated bureaucracies continues, according to recent reports regarding the CIA.

Federal employees far and wide have been either encouraged or forced to resign amid the Trump administration’s efforts to eliminate waste, with positions related to “diversity, equity, and inclusion” or similar leftist ideologies among the first on the chopping block.

That appears to be the basis on which the CIA is preparing to fire a significant portion of its workforce, as the Daily Caller reported:

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is potentially planning its largest firing of officers in almost 50 years, according to a New York Times report.

The agency is allegedly in the process of dismissing officers working on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) issues, former officials told the Times. It is unclear how many officers will be fired.

President Trump issued an executive order on day one of his presidency targeting DEI in the federal government, blasting the programs as “illegal and immoral.”

Trump’s anti-DEI stance has been a consistent theme throughout his re-election campaign, transition period, and first several weeks in office:

Among those standing in the White House’s way is a Biden-appointed federal judge, as The Hill reported:

U.S. District Judge Adam B. Abelson, a former President Biden appointee, issued a preliminary injunction on Friday that prevents the administration from altering or ending contracts viewed as DEI-related.
