Chuck Schumer said it, so it must be true. That’s how the mainstream media is covering Schumer’s dramatic performance today.
He has “officially” (not really) renamed President Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ to the “We’re All Going To Die Act”.
In a statement before the press, not only did the NY Senator unveil a handy-dandy graphic as a prop, so everyone could read his punchy new nickname for the spending bill.
He also claimed that President Trump is lying to Congress and the American people, presumably about all these deaths that the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ will leave in it’s wake if passed.
Here’s the clip of the dramatic unveiling of the bill’s new official (not really) name by Schumer:
UNHINGED: @SenSchumer says “WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE” if we pass the largest tax cut in history, block illegals from taxpayer-funded health care, and cut the deficit.

At some point you have to wonder if Democrats like Schumer ever run their speech, or at least their speech notes, by anyone before they say this stuff out loud.
When I was 19, God grabbed me by the neck and convinced me that Jesus was who He said he was. I subsequently bowed the knee and surrendered to His call, accepting His gift of grace.
All that to say… I started preaching. But not to people. (Stick with me here. I’m going somewhere with this.)
Before I ever opened my mouth in front of a congregation to deliver anything remotely resembling a sermon, I started preaching to trees. Back in the woods behind our house, the trees were my first ‘congregation’.
But there is one big drawback when it comes to preaching to trees — they’re just trees.
No matter how good (or bad…) my message was, they never reacted.
And I never REALLY learned whether I was hitting home with the message until I started testing them out on PEOPLE.
I have a feeling Chuck Schumer has a backyard with a few non-reactive TREES in his backyard; I’m just sayin’.
CNN’s Scott Jennings nailed it with this reaction:
No one should ever – ever – take these people seriously ever again ever. https://t.co/x5epm89Qp5

If that lesson wasn’t clear before now, it certainly is at this point.
I get it… Sen. Joni Ernst set herself up to become a punchline when she reacted with a bit of an overexaggerated response to someone questioning the bill a few days ago:

The problem is… sarcasm. Which I love in a moment like that when you’re dealing with people who are completely over the top with fabricated narratives that they’ve CHOSEN to accept as truth — because they WANT it to be true… to have something to gripe about.
We’ve all heard someone’s opening line when pushing back against somebody’s “but we might die!” concerns. “Well… we’re ALL going to die SOME day…”
That’s just a sarcastic opening line you use when you want your audience to realize how ridiculous they’re being.
Except… Democrats like Schumer have convinced Democrat voters that it’s TRUE with rhetoric like he spouted today, according to Fox News:
“For many Americans, health care coverage is the difference between life and death,” Schumer said. His new name for Trump’s budget bill comes from a recent remark by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa. In response to jeers from a crowd about how cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) would cause people to die, Ernst retorted at a recent town hall event, “Well, we’re all going to die.”
“According to Ernst, ‘Fear not. We’re going to die anyway.’ Tell that, the American people have heard. Let me be clear. Democrats are ready. We are ready to fight,’ Schumer said. “We are doubling down. We’re ready to show Americans what’s really at stake here, because this fight won’t be won in just the Capitol. As Abe Lincoln said, public sentiment is everything. And when public sentiment hears about this ‘We’re All Going to Die Act,’ they’re going to hate it, and they’re going to tell their senators they hate it. And if the senators think they can get away with a yes vote and explain it, they’re sadly mistaken. The cuts are too deep. The cuts are too real. The cuts are too devastating for people.”
He continued, “Why are they being so mean? Why are they being so cruel? And why are they being so politically tenured at at best, suicidal at worst? All to give tax breaks to billionaires. They are in total obeisance. Donald Trump is, and his colleagues are to very very, the small group of very wealthy, greedy people who say, ‘I don’t care what you do to everyone else, cut my taxes. And by the way, get rid of any regulations.’”
The truly funny part is that if you take in his answers to reporters’ questions, Schumer doesn’t have a SINGLE THING OF ACCURATE SUBSTANCE to say.
Check out this moment from the same press conference.
He was asked whether the part of the bill that kicks illegals off of government funded programs should be considered a REFORM.
In other words… isn’t that a CUT that would positively impact the deficit while freeing up money for legitimate Medicaid needs?
The questioned seemed to just make him angry; maybe it hit a nerve:

If you want to know some of what is ACTUALLY in the Bill, check out this great clip.
Here’s Vince Coglianese rattling off a ton of stuff that nobody is talking about that’s in the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’:
There’s a ton of what we voted for in the bill
Take five minutes, and listen to Vince go over it……
Easiest way to tell that this is what we voted for is when Chuck Schumer says we’re gonna all die if it passes

As Vince noted, JUST the fact that it would create a system of TAXING non-citizens for money they’re making in the US that gets sent back to their home country.
THAT IS HUGE!
Why isn’t the media or Democrats like Schumer talking about that?
Here’s a better question: why are ALL the negative points about this bill that Schumer and his buddies are pointing out… NOT TRUE?
Maybe it’s because they’re having a hard time finding anything TRUE to disagree with.
He posted this video yesterday to his X account, pretending that AMERICANS who actually NEED Medicaid are going to lose their benefits:
Donald Trump is trying to sell the American people snake oil with his Big, Ugly Bill. pic.twitter.com/4ECWRiULS3
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) June 4, 2025
The only problem… again… is that’s not true.
I don’t particularly love the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ — I think we should be passing SINGLE ISSUE legislation and that we should be cutting the deficit with a CHAINSAW — until it HURTS.
But the fact is, all the accusations coming out of Schumer’s mouth about this bill is designed to make it sound like AMERICANS are going to lose their benefits and government programs.
What he SHOULD be saying… is that ILLEGALS are going to lose those benefits, and people who are SCAMMING the system (should read: SCAMMING AMERICAN TAXPAYERS).
But Chuck Schumer’s “we’re all going to die because of this bill” charade isn’t the only assault on President Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’.
Elon Musk has fully pulled back the filter and is spouting pure hate for this bill.
And that’s no top of Rand Paul and Ron Johnson in the Senate, as reported by an ABC affiliate out of New Hampshire:
“Death by 1,000 paper cuts. That’s the intention of the Republican bill,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY.
The legislation would extend Trump-era tax cuts and introduce new ones — including a tax exemption for tips and deductions for Social Security income — totaling $3.75 trillion in tax breaks. Supporters argue these cuts would stimulate economic growth and increase government revenues.
But not everyone on the right is convinced. Billionaire Elon Musk weighed in, calling the proposal a “disgusting abomination.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA, dismissed the criticism, “I think he’s flat wrong. I think he’s way off on this.”
Meanwhile, the White House continues to defend the bill and criticized the CBO’s estimate by saying it does not take into account the raised revenues that will take place from tax cuts. During a House hearing, Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought insisted: “The bill will not increase the debt — it will lead to reduced deficits.”
Republican Sens. Rand Paul, KY; Ron Johnson, WI; and Rick Scott, FL, have publicly raised alarm over its cost.
With Trump’s 2017 tax cuts set to expire later this year, and the bill tied to raising the debt ceiling, pressure is mounting on Senate Republicans to come to an agreement.
“We’ve got to balance that latest estimate against the reality that if we do nothing, we’ll be responsible in the same way that we claim credit for the biggest tax cut in U.S. history back in 2017,” Sen. Thom Tillis said.
President Trump aims to have the bill passed by July 4, a deadline that coincides with the need to raise the debt ceiling, which the Treasury says must happen by mid-summer to avoid a national economic crisis.
Are millions of people going to die if the President’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ passes?
Nope.
And we all know that.
The real question now has nothing to do with the showboating and dramatic performances of Chuck Schumer.
It has to do with whether this bill, in it’s present ‘big’ form, can actually make it’s way through the US Senate… and survive a final approval when (if…?) it makes it back to the House.
And answering that is a lot sketchier proposition today than it was just a few days ago, and growing more bleak by the hour.
