Bleeding heart liberals are right about one thing. Career criminals do not deserve all of the blame for the mayhem they inflict. Others are arguably more responsible. Consider the case of Lawrence Reed:

Federal prosecutors allege Reed intentionally used gasoline and a lighter to set a woman on fire aboard a [Chicago Transit Authority] Blue Line train at about 9:30 p.m. Monday.

U.S. District Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Andrew Boutros said the woman was “minding her own business and reading her phone” while seated in the middle of the train car, when Reed approached her from the back of the car, doused her head and body with gasoline, and attempted to ignite the liquid.

Maybe he was inspired by his colleague Decarlos Brown, who slit Iryna Zarutska’s throat as she sat minding her own business on the Charlotte light rail. Moonbats might start a GoFundMe for Reed like they did for Brown.

The woman ran to the back of the car, as he ignited the rest of the liquid in the bottle and then used it to light her on fire, according to the complaint.

Footage allegedly showed Reed watching the woman, engulfed in flames, as she tried to put out the fire by rolling on the floor.

In Charlotte, the victim was the only Caucasian in that part of the car and the other passengers acted as if nothing were happening. What you don’t fix, stays broken:

Boutros said as the woman was rolling on the ground, desperately trying to put out the fire, no one came to her aid.

She is in critical condition with severe burns including to her face.

As in all of these cases, Reed has a long résumé. He had already been arrested 71 times in Cook County.

If someone lets a rattlesnake loose in a nursery, who is to blame when a baby gets bitten? Of course you take care that the snake will never bite again, but the moral responsibility belongs to the liberals who time and again unleash people like Reed at the public’s throat for warped ideological reasons. The judges and Soros-appointed DAs who let them loose need to be tried as accomplices to the crimes that inevitably follow.

But then, where do you draw the line? Surely everyone who votes for pro-criminal Democrats bears some of the guilt.

They are angling to get Reed off for setting the woman on fire with the insane insanity defense. This defense might also apply to liberal judges — and for that matter to Democrat voters.
