Some tragic news has surfaced in Iowa.

A bus carrying baseball players from Iowa Lakes Community College overturned on Wednesday.

The crash prompted an immediate response from a medevac team and a dozen other first responders due to the sheer number of injuries.

Yahoo News provided the specifics of the crash and shared the death toll:

A charter bus carrying members of a community college baseball team crashed in Iowa on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring dozens, authorities said.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. local time on Iowa Highway 4 near Twin Lakes in Calhoun County, authorities said.

There has been one confirmed fatality, Iowa State Patrol said.

There were 33 people on the bus, which was the only vehicle involved, according to Iowa State Trooper Paul Gardner.

All other occupants on the bus sustained minor to serious injuries, according to Gardner.

Life Flight helicopters and ambulances transported injured occupants to various area hospitals, authorities said. State patrol was working to determine how many people were transported and to where, Gardner said.

Out of respect for the privacy of those involved and their families, the College will not be releasing names or additional details at this time. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available and is confirmed by authorities,” Iowa Lakes Community College’s statement continued. “The College asks for privacy and compassion for all those affected.”
