One of the illegal migrants who allegedly murdered a Mexican border agent has reportedly been linked to the violent Tren de Aragua gang. The New York Post reports, the federal agent, identified as Luis Alberto Olivas García, was bashed in the head with a rock repeatedly until he died after the agent asked to see the identification papers of a trio of migrants at a checkpoint in the northern state of Chihuahua on Dec. 30.

According to the New York Post:

“The trio — two Venezuelan nationals and a Colombian national — allegedly pushed Olivas García down a hill after he intercepted them across the border from El Paso, Texas, a Mexican court heard Monday, according to Border Report. One of the Venezuelan migrants then allegedly grabbed a rock and bashed the federal agent in the head until he died, the outlet reported.”

Chihuahua Public Safety Director Gilberto Loya said in an interview with Border Report, that one of the accused migrants had tattoos he believed were linked to the violent Tren de Aragua gang.

Members of Tren de Aragua have reportedly been growing even more violent as they attempt to cross the U.S.-Mexico border armed with blades, broken liquor bottles, and tire irons. According to a recent Texas law enforcement memo, the gang is desperately trying to break through the border before President-elect Donald Trump takes office in January.

According to a previous report from the New York Post,

“The renewed violence is centered just a few miles down the border wall from where The Post witnessed a violent El Paso border riot on March 21. In that assault, more than 200 illegal migrants broke through razor wire and dashed to the wall. Some of them brutally assaulted Texas National Guard soldiers in the melee. At least one of the rioters was seen stomping on a service member’s knee as the group tried to break through.”

An anonymous informant said that the renewed violent attempts to break-in “would continue every night” around 3 a.m., adding that the gang “intends to ‘cause harm’ to the Texas National Guard soldiers stationed on the border, “especially when they are left alone with no agents.”

Victor Avila, a retired agent for Homeland Security Investigations, warned that Tren de Aragua functions with more of a “terrorist ideology of destruction.” Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared the Venezuelan gang a “foreign terrorist organization” in September.

Abbott declared that Texas will continue to employ all of its resources to fight back against the intruders and defend its state. With the borders about to close to these violent criminal migrants, their desperation to get in while the Biden administration is still in office is putting border agents at even greater risk. Texas, and the rest of America, is eager for President-elect Donald Trump to take office so that the administration that seeks to protect America, secure the southern border, and eliminate the threat of violent migrant gangs can get to work.
