Two small airplanes collided Wednesday morning at a regional airport in Arizona, resulting in two fatalities.

“The crash occurred at Marana Regional Airport, outside Tucson,” ABC15 Arizona reports.

Per Fox News:

Authorities confirmed that at least two people were killed, though they noted that details were limited as first responders were still working the scene.

The planes that collided midair were identified as a Cessna 172S and a Lancair 360 MK II, both fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said. The agency said it is investigating the incident.

No information about the victims or how the collision occurred was immediately provided.

ABC15 Arizona reports:

Marana Police Department officials say both planes were occupied and at least two people have died. The victims have not been identified.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration tell ABC15 a Lancair, with two people on board, collided mid-air with a Cessna 172, with two others on board, at around 8:30 Wednesday morning.

Viewer-submitted photos show smoke in the direction of the airport.
