A huge development has occurred in Tucson, Arizona.

After more than two weeks of investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, Arizona and federal authorities made their first detention Tuesday night.

Authorities have officially detained a man who was taken in for questioning in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

NBC News broke the story and had these details to add:

Law enforcement has detained a man for questioning in the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, a person familiar with the matter told NBC News tonight.

The development comes after the FBI released black-and-white security camera photos of a potential subject outside the 84-year-old woman’s home on the morning she went missing in Tucson, Arizona.

It was not immediately clear whether the man detained for questioning was the person seen in the doorbell camera images.

ABC News is on the ground in Arizona:

CNN reported the FBI currently has multiple people as persons of interest:

FBI agents are looking at more than one individual as a “person of interest” in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the bureau’s director, Kash Patel, told Fox News late Tuesday.

“We are looking at people who, as we say, are persons of interest,” Patel said.

Patel did not elaborate on who might be under suspicion, but said authorities were undergoing a process to eliminate anyone who may not actually be involved.

Patel said the FBI’s outreach to the private sector has shown “there might be persons of interest in and around the area related to this event.”

The FBI’s first priority is finding Guthrie, Patel said, and “right behind that is to find anyone and any others involved in this kidnapping case to make sure they’re brought to justice.”
