Another prominent public figure has just resigned over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

This time, it’s Larry Summers — Democrat ex-Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton and former Harvard president.

He has resigned from his position at Harvard University.

Here are the details:

Summers is both resigning and relinquishing his University Professorship.

In addition to resigning from his teaching duties, Summers is relinquishing his University Professorship.

The Harvard Crimson reported:

Former Harvard President Larry Summers will resign from his academic and faculty appointments at Harvard at the end of the academic year, relinquishing his University Professorship — Harvard’s highest faculty distinction — and remaining on leave until that time, a Harvard spokesperson confirmed to The Crimson.

Summers also resigned Wednesday from his role as co-director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School, a position he has held since 2011, according to the spokesperson. He will not teach or take on new advisees.

The resignation marks an extraordinary unraveling for Summers, long one of the most influential figures in American economics. His career spanned prize-winning research, service as United States Treasury Secretary, and the presidency of Harvard.

In a statement to The Crimson, Summers wrote that the decision to leave was “difficult” and that he remained “grateful to the thousands of students and colleagues I have been privileged to teach and work with since coming to Harvard as a graduate student 50 years ago.”

“Free of formal responsibility, as President Emeritus and a retired professor, I look forward in time to engaging in research, analysis, and commentary on a range of global economic issues,” he added.

Summers’ standing began to collapse after a cache of emails disclosed in November revealed details of a long-standing personal relationship between Summers and convicted sex offender Jeffrey E. Epstein.

The correspondence revealed that Summers regularly exchanged messages with Epstein about women, politics, and Harvard-linked projects over at least seven years — staying in contact as late as July 2019, the day before Epstein’s final arrest.

The latest Epstein files release revealed that Summers was in close contact with Jeffrey Epstein just months before his ‘suicide’ in jail.

The files show Summers was consulting with Epstein on soliciting a romantic relationship with one of Summers’ MENTEES in 2019.

Summers was a VOCAL opponent of Donald Trump in 2016, doing everything he could to block him from the presidency.

Now we know why.

Summers came under fire last November after a tranche of emails released by the House Oversight Committee revealed that he’d sought Epstein’s advice about pursuing a relationship with a mentee — among other communication — just before the financier’s 2019 arrest.

Epstein referred to himself as the former Treasury secretary’s “wing man” in one email. Summers and his wife, Elisa New, visited Epstein’s private island during their honeymoon in 2005.

“I am deeply ashamed of my actions and recognize the pain they have caused,” Summers told POLITICO in November. “I take full responsibility for my misguided decision to continue communicating with Mr. Epstein.”

Summers has not been charged with a crime.

Summers stepped back from his public commitments shortly after the emails were released, and left the board of the OpenAI Foundation several days later. He also left high-profile posts at the Center for American Progress, Bloomberg News, the Brookings Institution and Yale Budget Lab, among other spots.
