A growing number of Americans, particularly in minority communities so-called progressive have long taken for granted, have been ditching the Democratic Party in recent years.

One such individual, Michigan autoworker Joseph Knowles, was President Donald Trump’s invited guest at this week’s joint address of Congress.

Knowles subsequently appeared on Fox News for an interview during which he explained why no longer supports Democrats:

During Trump’s address on Tuesday, when he honored a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor and the mother of a 12-year-old girl who was murdered, allegedly by illegal migrants, most Democrats remained seated. Some protested the address by holding signs that read “FALSE,” “NO king!” and “MUSK STEALS.”

“I’m very disappointed in the Democrats on how they handled things,” Knowles told “America Reports.” “And you know what? I feel like I made a damn good choice of not voting for them anymore, and I’m very proud of how Donald Trump handled it.”

Knowles expanded on what made him switch to the Republican Party.

“[Democrats] said their agenda was for the working people, but that’s not the case,” Knowles said. “They’re out-of-touch, and I can no longer support an organization or a political party like that.”

The behavior of Democratic lawmakers during the address was widely denounced on social media:

Shortly after Election Day, Newsweek reported on the historic gains Trump made among Black voters:

The shift among Black voters came from younger men. In Wisconsin, for example, Trump’s support among that group more than doubled.

Nationally, he roughly doubled his support among Black men under 45 compared to 2020, with about 3 in 10 in this age group voting for him. In total, 21 percent of Black men voted for Trump, which was 2 percent more than in 2020.

The shift contributed to Trump’s improved margins in battleground states like North Carolina and Georgia, where his share of the Black vote rose by 5 percentage points over 2020 levels.

Black women overwhelmingly voted for Vice President Kamala Harris, however, with 91 percent of the vote, according to NBC’s exit poll, a one-point rise on President Joe Biden’s result in 2020.

When it came to Hispanic voters, Trump showed the best results for a Republican candidate in over 52 years.
