(NewsNation) — Shequita Taylor, the aunt of Orelans Justice Center escapee Antoine Massey, tells “CUOMO” she wants her nephew to turn himself in.
After 10 men broke out of the New Orleans jail May 16, Massey is one of the only two still at large.
A video circulated on social media Monday showed a man claiming to be Massey saying he was wrongfully accused. The man held up papers that he said corroborate his innocence.
In the video, he said he didn’t break out but was let out of jail.
Taylor spoke with authorities Tuesday after she presumed they viewed her social media videos urging Massey to turn himself in.
In the social media video, the man claiming to be Massey called for an investigation into his conviction and a plea for help from public figures, including President Donald Trump and rapper Meek Mill.
He also held up a piece of paper that he says is a signed affidavit from the woman he is accused of assaulting, saying the allegations are false.
One of the women accused of helping Massey and described by police as his “paramour” also suffered from years of physical abuse from him, court records show.
The woman, who had previously filed a protective order against Massey after he attempted to strangle her, was aware of his planned escape and later misled authorities, police say. Massey has a history of domestic violence allegations and escaping from jail.
Taylor would not reveal the woman’s name but said both she and Massey were “two toxic people” and conceded the pair had altercations.
But she said details of those altercations were far fetched: “It is a lie, far as him raping her and beating her with a pot, pulling her hair out and stuff so she bleed. … All those things are false allegations.”
As of Tuesday night, Massey remains at large.
