Well, that’s too bad.
Far-left Democrat ‘Squad’ member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has just lost her bid to lead the House Oversight Committee.
And she didn’t just lose — she lost BIG.
The final vote was 131:84.
To add insult to the injury, instead of electing the young and progressive AOC, the House elected 74-year-old Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia — another geriatric old-timer.

Liberals on social media are not pleased.
Take a look at these reactions:
AOC was the best fit serve as Ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee: to lead a new generation of Democrats and hold the Trump Administration accountable. It’s a shame she lost, but her future is bright.
RETWEET if you are proud to stand with @AOC! pic.twitter.com/oPLLfKA4uY

AOC losing the leadership position to a 74yo white man illustrates that the democrats have learned absolutely NOTHING from last month’s election. Why is it so fucking hard for these Dem boomers to get the fuck out of the way? I’m not even saying retire! Just pass the damn baton…

Nancy Pelosi is more focused on stopping AOC than stopping Donald Trump.
And this is why we lose elections.

Fox News reported:
Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was defeated in her bid to be the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, losing to Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia.
Connolly, 74, bested the 35-year-old Ocasio-Cortez with 131 to 84 votes in what is seen as a blow for progressives who backed Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the progressive “Squad.”
“I thank my colleagues for their support and the confidence they’ve placed in me to lead House Democrats on the Oversight Committee,” Connolly said in a statement after being elected by the House Democratic Caucus.
Connolly called out “the Republican playbook,” in which he accused Republicans of using “debunked conspiracy theories” and enabling “the worst abuses of the Trump Administration.”
“This will be trench warfare.” Connolly said. “Now is not the time to be timid. I promise the American people that our Committee Democrats will be a beacon of truth and prepared from day one to counter Republican gaslighting.”
It was rumored that Nancy Pelosi was pulling strings in the background to prevent AOC from winning, but she’s been a little distracted recently since breaking her hip during an international trip earlier this week.
Newsweek commented on the apparent beef between Pelosi and AOC:
The race quickly sparked an ideological divide among Democrats, with the Congressional Progressive Caucus endorsing Ocasio-Cortez, and the centrist New Democrat Coalition backing Connolly.
An Ocasio-Cortez victory would have been a major win for the left, as she would have become the highest ranking member of the “Squad,” the group of progressive lawmakers formed after the 2018 midterms.
Pelosi was privately supporting Connolly’s bid, urging House Democrats to support him for the position, several news outlets including Axios and Punchbowl News reported. Ocasio-Cortez and Pelosi had a rocky start to their working relationship, but have not publicly feuded in more recent years.
After Ocasio-Cortez unseated a top Pelosi ally, former Representative Joe Crowley, in a 2018 primary race, Pelosi downplayed her primary victory as a “choice in one district,” and later said that a “glass of water” could win there if it were a Democrat.
Ocasio-Cortez, on the other hand, joined a protest outside of Pelosi’s office in November 2018 demanding stronger action to combat climate change.
Still, Ocasio-Cortez voted for Pelosi in her 2018 and 2020 Speaker races, while Pelosi gave Ocasio-Cortez a position on the powerful Oversight Committee in 2019. Pelosi has dismissed the idea the two don’t get along, telling reporters there was no “hatchet” to bury between the two of them, reported Politico.
Democrats’ Steering and Policy Committee earlier voted to back Connolly by a 34-27 vote margin, reported Axios.
Connolly, more than twice Ocasio-Cortez’s age, represents a Virginia Congressional district comprised of Washington, D.C. suburbs. He was first elected in 2008 and has served on the Oversight Committee since 2009. He announced in November that he is fighting esophagus cancer.
Good luck on your future presidential run, AOC…
