Mercedes Bolden and her husband were on their way to the Alabama Birth Center when Mercedes’ contractions went from 8 to just 4 minutes apart. The couple made it to the birth center in time, but Mercedes couldn’t even make it to the door before her water broke and she had to lie down on the sidewalk.
