Just weeks after privately suffering a terrifying medical episode that could have cost both her and her unborn child their lives, actress Gal Gadot took to social media to share the inspiring, pro-life message she walked away with – even if she didn’t realize just how life-affirming it was.

Gadot shared that while she was eight months pregnant with her fourth child, a daughter born earlier this year, she began experiencing extreme and persistent headaches. After several weeks, she finally went in for tests to figure out what was going on, only to be diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening blood clot in her brain, a very rare complication of pregnancy that some studies suggest could be linked to the sue of oral contraceptives.

“In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live,” Gadot wrote in the post on Instagram.

Following the diagnosis, Gadot said she was rushed into surgery to remove the clot, where she also gave birth to her daughter, Ori, who was born several weeks premature. She said she named her daughter after the hope that both she and her daughter would come through alive.

“Her name, meaning ‘my light,’ wasn’t chosen by chance,” Gadot continued. “Before the surgery, I told [my husband] Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”

“Giving birth is a miracle, a testament to the strength and resilience of our bodies and spirits. But it also demands so much from us, reminding us to care for ourselves as fiercely as we care for others,” she added, saying she hopes her message empowers other women to be proactive about their health, especially during pregnancy.

Gadot said Ori is her own “personal miracle” and a “constant reminder of resilience, hope, and the strength we carry within.”
