The misuse of the Christmas story and defamatory depiction of the Nativity scene in service of political ideology isn’t exactly new. This year a very Woke Church in Illinois has zip-tied baby Jesus to MakeAPoint.

The Left has subsumed Christian churches as it has other cultural institutions and turned Christian worship and service into Leftwing political activism. Which includes cheap political theater

if you’re struggling to believe that some churches have seriously lost their way, look no further than Lake Street Church of Evanston.

The Illinois-based church raised all sorts of eyebrows after it decided to take their love of unchecked immigration and disdain for Trump and apply it to one of the most sacred scenes in the Bible.

According to Protestia, the church claims that “this installation reimagines the nativity as a scene of forced family separation, drawing direct parallels between the Holy Family’s refugee experience and contemporary immigration detention practices.”

“Holy Family’s refugee experience”? That, dear reader, is the clue that you are not in the presence of a real Christian church. This is deliberate lying about the Christmas story in service of anti-American ideology.

Consider, when Joseph and a very pregnant Mary traveled to Bethlehem they were not refugees. Joseph was complying with the conditions of the census called by Caesar Augustus (Luke 2:1-5). Bethlehem was in Judea, a conquered Jewish nation then part of the Roman Empire. Traveling from Nazareth (in Galilee, Roman-conquered Israel) to Bethlehem was about 90 miles and akin to traveling from Philadelphia to New York City. Different states, same nation, not refugees.

But but but … the Woke, inside and outside of fake Christian churches cry … the Holy family had to flee to Egypt because for safe haven! That makes them refugees just like Palestinians!

Um …

Oh, look at that! Egypt was just another part of the Roman Empire! Going from Judea to Egypt is like going from California to Arizona … also to seek safe haven from Newsom’s pro-criminal state, but it doesn’t make the fleeing Californians refugees.

After watching Woke Churches in 2020 & 21 put masks on the statues in Christmas Nativity scenes … including the Catholic Church …

… it is disappointing but not surprising that Lake Street Church would engage in defaming Christmas. They aren’t a church so much as a Woke Social Club more interested in being “non-creedal” and all manner of Leftwing ideology.

Bad enough that many want to erase Christmas from the season, it’s worse when ostensible Christians want to lie about it. That breaks the Commandment not to carry God’s name into disrepute.
