The subjects on NWV are generally focused on politics, war, energy, borders, economics, religion and so on. All of these are important and I read the NWV articles daily because the authors are so sincere and I find what is written to be interesting.
The purpose of this writing is to emphasize what I have found to be as the title states. I do not know just the mechanism of YouTube as far as how people make videos and are paid for their efforts. So far I have only uploaded two you tube videos. The most recent called Boat Load Of Dogs. The first was done several years ago when I was attempting to save the life of a dear friend that had been caught up in the system. It was up for only two hours before it was take down. Sadly my friend was murdered by hospice in spite of my efforts.
I have been so surprised at the amount of YouTube videos that I have found that have shown me how to do something. The topics are a broad spectrum of interests. I have found that surfing YouTube is much more satisfying than the drivel called movies these days. What caused me to write this was the awesome efforts of a number of YouTubers that I have watched. I have found several Channels that I turn to frequently.
I will list some of the ones that I have been impressed with.
The first is Matts Off Road Recovery. It was not recommended to me and I am not sure how I found it but it has proven to be tremendously entertaining. The series of videos follows the family and friends of Matt Wetzel and his wife Jaymie who live in Southern Utah. They have four boys who are featured on the videos.
In the past Matt has had various occupations such as roofing. He had the opportunity to buy a tow company and it has developed into the present operation. They have brought together may individuals with varied talents and have used cameras such as GoPro to document what they are doing.
They have posted many videos of various recoveries in some precarious situations. Some as simple as pulling someone out of the sand to others that have gone off of a mountain trail and rolled way down the mountain. They have fabricated a number of vehicles that have wenches and 4 wheel drive capabilities. I have been shocked with the terrain that the vehicles have been taken over.
Matt has a bubbly personality and likes to laugh and sing. Jaymie is a perfect match for him and is soft-spoken and supportive of Matt. They have proven to be so generous to friends and families giving vehicles away, rebuilding an old Suzuki 4 wheel drive vehicle that was abandoned years ago and given to Ed who lives on the premises.
Matt really likes Corvairs. He had one as a kid and has acquired numerous Corvairs and Corsair parts. In one episode Matt had found a Corvair on line that he wanted to purchase.
Jaymie was sitting beside him when he was talking to the seller on the phone. Matt was saddened to find out that the vehicle had been sold earlier in the day. He got off the phone and exclaimed, “well you win some and you lose some.” With that, having a broad grin on her face Jaymie slid the bill of sale for the Corsair over to Matt, and he realized that she had bought the car for him. This is what is so emotionally satisfying with their lives.
A great deal of time is spent building and fixing vehicles. For those who lack the ability to do it themselves it will prove satisfying.
In another episode they gave a late model Bronco to an employee. The effort they went to was so uplifting.
They have also been active in community outreach projects.
The videos have featured two young ladies that have provided sunshine to the productions, Lizzy initially and Katelynn more recently. Katelynn is always smiling and laughing. I am so impressed with the quality of the productions that are making that I was moved to share my thoughts. If you tune in, I promise you will be hooked. I am so thankful for their efforts.
The other frequently watched productions are Steve’s Small Engine Saloon. Steve lives in Canada and loves to drink beer. He produces very informative programs to help take care and repair of chain saws and other gas powered machines. I have taken his advice and purchased several items that have helped me in my shop. Down in Arkansas is a very unusual woman named Brea. There are very few female mechanics.
She has the channel called Chicanic and like Steve, works on small engines. She is very knowledgeable and has shared lots of tips on taking care of and fixing small engines. I have purchased a number of items she has recommended.
One of the things about her that tickles me is the excitement that she demonstrates once she gets a machine running properly.
I am sure that you will appreciate her nature and find her productions interesting.
Next is Patata, she is married to James and lives in Eastern Tennessee. Her site is Appalachians Homestead. She has been making videos for over ten years. Usually putting out several a week. She is very talented in pointing out how things have gone haywire and makes suggestions on how to improve life. She is a Christian and oftentimes her videos have a religious theme.
I am very proud of the next individual that I have known for over 50 years. Jim Burr lives in Evergreen, Colorado. I first met him at the SDA church in Arvada, Colorado.
He had moved to Arvada from California, where he was a teacher for RCA in the field of electronics. Jim started Jim’s Mobile TV service and traveled around the Denver area fixing televisions before flat panel TV’s were developed. He was always looking to give the customer the best value he could. He decided to carry a number of Magnavox televisions in has van and when the cost of repair was not reasonable he would sell them a new TV and haul the old TV away.
Jim is one of the smartest persons I have ever met. He would be classified as a genius, having built windmills to produce electricity for example. He then developed an interest in astronomy and started building telescopes. His latest invention is a binocular telescope that is awesome.
He realized that there are many companies manufacturing telescopes but the cases were lacking. He decided to learn how to make injected molded cases for telescopes and it turned into a big factory.
You will enjoy watching Jim on his site Heavens Declare. Jim is a devout Christian and brings the study of the stars and planets into the mix of the wondrous power of God. Hopefully you will enjoy watching the videos that I have recommended.
