Whoa…
Tucker Carlson just released a teaser for an interview with Sen. Ted Cruz scheduled to be released tomorrow, and it’s wild.
In the clip he shared, Carlson and Cruz get into a fiery exchange over war with Iran after Carlson challenges Cruz to answer some questions about the country, specifically about its population and ethnic make-up.
Ted Cruz couldn’t answer a single one.
Tucker looked shocked, at one point exclaiming,
“You’re a senator who’s calling for the overthrow of the government and you don’t know anything about the country!”

For those who prefer to read, here’s a transcript:
CARLSON: How many people are living in Iran, by the way?
CRUZ: I don’t know the population.
CARLSON: At all?
CRUZ: No, I don’t know the population.
CARLSON: You don’t know the population of the country you seek to topple?
CRUZ: How many people live in Iran?
CARLSON: Ninety-two million.
CRUZ: Ok. Yeah, I–
CARLSON: How could you not know that?
CRUZ: I don’t sit around memorizing population tables.
CARLSON: Well, it’s kind of relevant because you’re calling for the overthrow of the government.
CRUZ: Why is it relevant, whether it’s 90 million or 80 million or 100 million? Why is that relevant?
CARLSON: Well, because if you don’t know anything about the country–
CRUZ: I didn’t say I don’t know anything about the country.
CARLSON: Ok, what’s the ethnic mix of Iran?
CRUZ: They are Persians and predominantly Shia–
CARLSON: What percent?
CRUZ: Ok, this is cute. Ok–
CARLSON: You don’t know anything about Iran. So, actually, the country–
CRUZ: Ok, I am not the Tucker Carlson expert on Iran, who says–
CARLSON: You’re a senator who’s calling for the overthrow of the government and you don’t know anything about the country!
CRUZ: No, you don’t know anything about the country. You’re the one who claims they’re not trying to murder Donald Trump.
CARLSON: No, I’m not saying that.
CRUZ: You’re one who can’t figure out if it was a good idea to kill General Soleimani, and you said it was bad.
CARLSON: You don’t believe they’re trying to murder Trump–
CRUZ: Yes, I do!
CARLSON –because you’re not calling for military strikes against them in retaliation. And if you really believe that–
CRUZ: We’re carrying out military strikes today.
CARLSON: You said Israel was.
CRUZ: Right, with our help. I said “we.” Israel is leading them, but we’re supporting them.
CARLSON: Well this, you’re breaking news here because the U.S. government last night denied – the National Security Council – spokesman Alex Pfeiffer denied on behalf of Trump that we were acting on Israel’s behalf in any offensive capacity at all.
CRUZ: No, we’re not bombing them. Israel’s bombing them
CARLSON: You just said “we” were.
CRUZ: We are supporting Israel–
CARLSON: This is high stakes. You’re a senator. If you’re saying the United States government is at war with Iran right now, people are listening.
For some background, Sen. Cruz has been a longtime supporter of Israel and recently advocated for direct U.S. involvement in the war against Iran.
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, on Tuesday defended President Donald Trump’s authority to order a limited strike against Iran without first seeking permission from Congress.
“A single bombing run, historically, has not been understood to require congressional authorization,” Cruz told reporters at the U.S. Capitol. “To engage in sustained hostility, to engage in continued warfare does require congressional authorization.”..
Cruz said Israel has done an “extraordinary job” of eliminating Iran’s senior military leadership and nuclear scientists since launching its campaign last week, while decimating many of its nuclear facilities.
A key facility in Fordo, where much of Iran’s nuclear weapons research occurs, was built into the base of a mountain and designed to withstand aerial bombardment.
Taking out the Fordo facility would require massive “bunker buster” bombs. Israel reportedly has neither those bombs nor the type of bombers needed to deliver them.
The United States has both.
Cruz has been a longtime, vocal supporter of Israel, advocating for the U.S. to share the bunker buster bombs with it. He said Tuesday a strike to eliminate the Fordo facility is no doubt being discussed by Trump administration officials and Israel.
“I don’t know what the president is going to decide on that front,” Cruz said. “Taking out Fordo would make America much safer and what Israel is doing right now is an enormous favor to the United States.”
Now, here’s my take on this…
Tucker Carlson did kinda seem to be trying to rope Ted Cruz into a “gotcha” moment in that clip.
But, whether you agree with his approach or not, he’s not wrong…
A sitting U.S. senator who is all-in for war against Iran should at least know basic facts about the country he wants to annihilate…no?
Here’s what folks are saying about it online:
Thank you for being the voice of reason, Tucker. MAGA was never supposed to be about serving our Israeli overlords.

This isn’t even about whether you agree or disagree with @SenTedCruz on the issue or on what the appropriate response should be.
But if you’re strongly advocating for something as serious as bombing a country, entering a war, or overthrowing a government, then a sitting senator…

How can a sitting senator advocate for war against a country while knowing so little about it? I’ve never visited Iran, yet I’ve learned a great deal about it, given our near-constant conflicts in the Middle East over the past 34 years.
Shame on you, Ted Cruz.— ULTRA MAGA KEVIN (@KEVINMAGA2024) June 18, 2025
What are your thoughts?
Do you side with Carlson or Cruz on this one?
In response to the now-viral clip from his upcoming interview with Tucker Carlson, Ted Cruz doubled down on his stance:
Yep, I stand with Trump. Iran can’t have a nuclear bomb. Make sure you tune in tomorrow. https://t.co/fGlJAbK8o4 pic.twitter.com/uoGZbltdGe
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) June 18, 2025
While the clip is making waves online primarily over Ted Cruz not being able to give basic facts about Iran, something else very concerning was said in that clip…
Did you catch that part towards the end where Ted Cruz let it slip that “we’re carrying out military strikes today”?!
He tried to walk it back quickly, and it was kind of glossed over, with Cruz trying to clarify that by “we”, he actually meant “Israel.”
This X user pointed it out:
BRUTAL: Ted Cruz just said the quiet part out loud. On Tucker Carlson’s show, Cruz casually dropped that “we’re already at war with Iran alongside Israel.”
Tucker—visibly stunned—reminded him that the White House denied U.S. involvement just last night.
And right on cue…… pic.twitter.com/gHh1S2mwuY

And right on cue… Cruz panicked, stuttered, and began walking it all back.
So which is it? Either Cruz leaked classified military engagement live on air…
Or he lied on national television to justify another illegal war.
I really hope it was just a lie or misspeak on Cruz’s part…
I guess we will find out for sure in the coming hours and days.
The U.S. does not need to get militarily involved in another Middle Eastern conflict. Let’s give Israel our support but let them fight their own wars!
On another note, it will be interesting to watch the whole Carlson-Cruz interview once it drops tomorrow to get some additional context and see what else was said…
Will you tune in?
