A medical helicopter crashed in the town of Hartford, Illinois tonight.

Four people were rescued from the chopper before it caught fire, and three were rushed to the hospital.

Reportedly, the helicopter crashed when it struck a tree during a training exercise.

First Alert 4 was on the scene Thursday of a helicopter crash in Hartford, Illinois.

The crash happened at the corner of North Delmar and Date Street. People on the scene told First Alert 4 that four people were pulled out of the helicopter before it caught fire. A witness said three people were transported from the scene to area hospitals.

Witnesses on the scene told First Alert 4 that the crash happened as the helicopter was taking off.

KSDK added:

A medical helicopter crashed Thursday night in Hartford, Illinois, about 30 minutes north of St. Louis.

The ARCH Air Medical helicopter crashed across the street from the Hartford Fire Department, on a vacant lot at North Delmar Avenue and Date Street.

On social media, state Rep. Amy Elik, R-Alton, said “we are aware of the terrible helicopter crash in Hartford and ask for your prayers for those injured tonight.  This is a terrifying situation and we are still learning details.”

According to FAA data shown on the flight tracking website FlightAware, the helicopter was based at ARCH’s Granite City base, which is where it took off from earlier Thursday night en route to Hartford.

Please pray for the four individuals who were pulled from the wreckage, especially the three who were hospitalized.
