The list of possible explanations for this number ranges from gross government ineptitude to deliberate exploitation by criminal enterprises. Most likely, some of each.

According to Census (dot) Gov, the official number for the current US population looks something like this:

If that’s the number of official Americans alive today, how do we explain having 395 million ACTIVE Social Security numbers in the system?

Something like 60 MILLION people over and above legitimate citizens have active accounts. If it’s ‘negligence’ on the government’s part, it’s gotta be at least PARTLY willful in nature.

More than 20 million of the are over 100 years old. How many of those accounts are receiving some kind of government handouts?

We keep hearing official projections about Social Security benefits going bankrupt in the near future. For example, this report:

The Trustees of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds report on the current and projected financial status of the two programs each year. This document summarizes the findings of the 2024 reports. As in prior years, we found that the Social Security and Medicare programs both continue to face significant financing issues.

Based on our best estimates, this year’s reports show that:

• The Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) Trust Fund will be able to pay 100 percent of total scheduled benefits until 2033, unchanged from last year’s report. At that time, the fund’s reserves will become depleted and continuing program income will be sufficient to pay 79 percent of scheduled benefits.

With the programs facing imminent danger, one of the simplest ways to make sure it’s still around to help poor people who are counting on it is to make sure that nobody is gaming the system or cashing checks for some long-dead relative.

So why did it take a disrupter like Trump and his Techbro buddies to look under the hood and see what’s really going on with Social Security?

Unless, of course, someone WANTED the waste, fraud, and abuse to continue.

The next question we might want to see answered is whether any of those same numbers are being used by the illegal aliens Joe Biden has been flooding the country with.
