During a segment with Ben Harnwell and Norr Bid laden, Steve Bannon delivered a fiery critique of the media, the Ukraine war, and the risks facing Donald Trump. He didn’t mince words, laying blame on the press, neoconservatives, and Western leaders for the current state of chaos. Here’s what he had to say, broken down in simple terms.

Media Resistance Against Trump
Bannon singled out The Atlantic as the new command center for anti-Trump intellectuals. “The Atlantic is becoming the railhead for the resistance to Trump,” he said. He accused them of pushing narratives that paint Trump as a dictator, calling back to a piece by Robert Kagan that, in his view, gave “moral authority” to extreme actions against Trump.
Bannon warned that other media outlets like Axios, The Bulwark, and The Dispatch are part of this movement, using their platforms to attack Trump. He claimed they’re creating an intellectual framework to discredit Trump’s potential return to office. “It’s not the Washington Post anymore—it’s these new outlets that are shaping the fight,” Bannon said.
Ukraine War: A Ceasefire and No More U.S. Support
Turning to Ukraine, Bannon called the war a disaster and said Trump needs to avoid getting entangled. He outlined a three-point plan:
- “Call for an immediate ceasefire. Everything locks in place.”
- “No American money. No American troops.”
- “No commitments to reconstruction. We’ve got to rebuild here at home.”
Bannon emphasized the need to prioritize American resources for domestic crises like East Palestine, Ohio, and natural disaster recovery. “We’ve got our hands full with problems right here. We can’t afford to rebuild Ukraine,” he argued.
He criticized Ukrainian President Zelensky, saying, “Zelensky’s walking around like he’s got options. He doesn’t.” Bannon claimed that Western leaders led Ukraine down a “primrose path” to destruction and that the U.S. can’t continue to be the “Mack Daddy” funding a losing war.
Trump’s Political Risks
Bannon warned Trump to avoid getting dragged into the Ukraine mess, comparing it to Nixon’s entanglement in Vietnam. “This is not Trump’s war. It was created by others, and now they’ll try to blame him for it,” he cautioned.
He predicted that Trump’s critics will use the war to attack him, saying, “You wait—they’ll start saying Trump isn’t doing enough, or he’s not backing security guarantees. They’ll flip the script on him.”
Bannon also highlighted the human toll, pointing out that if the 2020 election hadn’t been “stolen,” the war might never have happened. “You’d have a million Ukrainians still alive today,” he claimed.
Bannon’s message was straightforward: the media is relentlessly attacking Trump, the war in Ukraine is a losing cause for America, and Trump needs to avoid getting caught in the political mess. “This is a black hole that will suck him in,” Bannon warned. He urged Trump to focus on fixing America’s problems, not getting pulled into foreign conflicts that drain resources and attention.
