When the Daily Mail reports that “vengeful” Jill Biden is urging “depressed” Joe to burn the whole thing down, you can almost hear the sound of Joe playing with matches in the West Wing. Literally and metaphorically Democrats are allowing Joe Biden to play with fire.

The headline would be laughable until you realize the grim implications. The media and the Democratic Party knew about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline for years. However, they let him shuffle onto the national stage anyway, armed with little more than his aviators and a pocket full of malarkey.

Biden’s cognitive troubles are no recent phenomenon.

Let’s rewind to 2000, when his infamous gaffes were already the stuff of legend. He’d suffered two brain aneurysms in 1988, undergoing emergency surgery that reportedly gave him a 50% chance of survival. While the surgeries saved his life, they left him with what some doctors call a “cognitive baseline reset.” Translation: Joe’s mental elevator no longer reached the top floor.

By the early 2000s, Biden’s verbal flubs were a recurring comedy bit. Who can forget the time he asked a paraplegic state senator to “stand up” and take a bow? Democrats would rather run the country with a malfunctioning marionette than let Orange Man Bad have another four years. Biden was supposedly a safe placeholder—a malleable figurehead for the Democratic agenda.

When his decline became undeniable, the strategy shifted from “he’s fine” to “he’s empathetic.” They spun his memory lapses and awkward pauses as signs of a “relatable everyman” who stumbles just like the rest of us.

The media then worked overtime to cover for Biden while savaging Trump. Remember when Biden’s debate performance against Trump was heralded as “presidential” simply because he managed to string sentences together? Meanwhile, Trump’s interruptions were cast as proof of his unfitness for office. Never mind that Biden’s entire platform could be summed up as “I’m not Trump.”

The Democrats and their media allies knew Biden was a flawed candidate, but they underestimated just how flawed. When “Weekend at Bernie’s” jokes about his presidency started gaining traction, it was clear the public was catching on. Still, no 25th Amendment discussions. Why? Because the alternative was Biden’s more despised VP, Kamala Harris. Imagine being the political insurance policy nobody wanted to cash in.

The real crime isn’t just that Biden was allowed to run. It’s that the Democratic Party and the media colluded to cover it up. They prioritized their hatred of Trump over the well-being of the country. Instead of invoking the 25th Amendment when it became clear Biden was unfit, they doubled down on the charade, leaving America to deal with the fallout.
