The nation has been anxious in recent weeks due to a wide number of reports involving unexplained drones seen in the skies above New Jersey and beyond.

While many critics have complained that the federal government has been too passive and tight-lipped regarding the ongoing investigation, one former GOP lawmaker insists that there’s a simple explanation.

As The Hill reported:

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a former military pilot, said Sunday that all of the mysterious drone sightings he has seen video of have been airplanes.

“Honestly, every video I’ve seen — and I’ve spent the last couple of days looking at every one of these videos — every video I have seen on Twitter, on the internet, are all airplanes. They’re literally all airplanes,” Kinzinger said in an interview with CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield.

“Some of them will show an airplane that’s kind of stable out there and says that’s a drone, and actually, it’s an airplane flying towards you at 30,000 feet. And I can see the lighting on it.”

“If any of these pictures that they have shown are actual drones, these drones then are complying with FAA lighting requirements: a green on the right, a red on the left with a strobe,” Kinzinger said.

“And so it’s not Iran, it’s not aliens. If there are drones, my guess is, if there are drones — again, because, again, all I’ve seen are airplanes — then it is more than likely some company that’s testing drones or something like that and has no requirement to tell the public that they’re doing it because they’re actually operating these things legally.”

Of course, airplanes have been constantly crisscrossing the nation for decades and we’ve never heard of any such mass sightings in the past. Many skeptical social media users were quick to respond to Kissinger’s explanation:

But the infamous hater of President Donald Trump couldn’t resist an opportunity to ridicule those who support the MAGA movement.

The New York Daily News also covered Kinzinger’s latest comments:

“This is mass hysteria everybody,” Kinzinger said. “Are there some drones that are unidentified? I’m not saying there aren’t. There could be. Let’s see what happens.”

On X, Kinzinger addressed posted images of what some thought to be mystery aircraft by claiming what’s being seen in some cases are manned planes.

The Republican politician, who broke ranks with his party to join the bipartisan congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, mocked MAGA supporters for believing the flying objects being reported are from another country or planet.
