I guess New York City politicians think that a police state is just an inevitable aspect of living in a global village.

Since none of the leaders of New York will acknowledge any other way to make terrorist attacks less likely, I guess they think a growing police state is just the price of urban living. So, now they’re ruling out more security forces.

Keep in mind that New York City already spends a lot of money on a powerful police presence to deal with crime. So, this new expense is significant.

CBS New York reports, “NYPD Deploying Heavily-Armed Anti-Terror Squads to Major Sports, Concert Venues.


The NYPD will be rolling out additional security around Madison Square Garden and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center as the holidays approach.

The department has trained local officers in the Midtown South and 78th precincts and have armed them with semi-automatic Colt M4 Commando rifles, 1010 WINS’ Juliet Papa reported.

Similar patrols are expected next year at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field and other summer or outdoor venues.
