We're not big fans of Mark Zuckerberg.
Why?
Well… he hasn't been particularly kind to us chicks.
You can read about it here, and here, and here, and here…the list keeps going….
Basically he's trying to kill us. But we WILL NOT BACK DOWN.
(This is your weekly reminder to please, PLEASE stop relying on Facebook to get your daily dose of Chicks. Come directly to our site! Pretty please with sugar on top!)
So, to be perfectly honest, NO, I DON'T have an OUNCE of sympathy for the fact that everyone is turning on this little weasel.
But of course, he's begging for forgiveness.
According to the New York Post:
Facebook took out newspaper ads in the United States and UK on Sunday, hoping to get a thumbs up from customers angered by a huge data breach that could have tipped the 2016 presidential election.
The ads had the signature of company founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who is in full damage control since it was revealed that British political consultants firm Cambridge Analytica mined Facebook data to help candidate Donald Trump.
“This was a breach of trust, and I'm sorry we didn't do more at the time,” the ads read. “We're now taking steps to make sure this doesn't happen again.”
Cambridge Analytica CEO Alexander Nix was caught on tape that his company played a huge role in consulting with Trump and targeting his potential supporters.
Nix has been suspended and Facebook's stock value fallen more than $70 billion since the Cambridge Analytica revelations.
Facebook's damage-control ads were published in The New York Times and The Washington Post here in America and The Sunday Times and The Sunday Telegraph across the pond.
The social media giant insisted it's working hard to find other apps that might still be working now to mine data from Facebook users.
“We expect there are others. And when we find them, we will ban them and tell everyone affected,” the ads stated.
Zuckerberg closed the ad by telling users: “I promise to do better for you.”
I just looooove how they act like poor little ol' Facebook just got taken ADVANTAGE OF by mean old Cambridge Analytica.
They didn't do anything that Facebook didn't virtually allow them to do. So whatever, Mark. This is on you.
