Despite health experts repeatedly assuring the public that the hantavirus outbreak that began on a cruise ship is nothing to be concerned about, many are still worried about it turning into another COVID pandemic situation.

Or, a potential plandemic just in time for an important election cycle…

Today, during an event for maternal health care in the Oval Office, President Trump was asked to respond to those concerns.

He pointed out that, unlike with COVID-19, the hantavirus is something we’ve been dealing with for a long time. It is also far less contagious, even though it has a high fatality rate.

“We think we’re in very good shape,” President Trump said.

HHS Secretary RFK Jr. echoed President Trump, stating that it’s all “under control and we’re not worried about it.”

He said that his team acted proactively to take care of the outbreak since “day one.”

As we reported previously, all Americans from the hantavirus-hit cruise ship are now back in the United States.

One of these passengers tested positive for the virus on Sunday, and another was showing mild symptoms.

We covered that in more detail here:

Authorities are taking precautions to prevent anyone else from being exposed to the virus.

Both of those sick passengers have been transported to a facility in Atlanta, GA, while the rest are at a medical center in Nebraska.

The HHS provided this update today:

UPDATE: an 18th American passenger from the cruise ship, a dual US-British citizen, traveled on the returning @StateDept airlift and is at the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Nebraska Medicine Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Center (RESPTC) in Omaha with 15 of the other repatriated passengers.

Two passengers from the airlift, including one who traveled with mild symptoms in the plane's biocontainment unit, are now at Emory University's RESPTC in Atlanta. All individuals in both facilities will receive clinical assessment and appropriate care and support based on their condition and needs.
Fox News shared some footage of the passengers being transported:

JUST IN: One hantavirus cruise ship passenger being treated in Atlanta is now officially showing symptoms after the deadly outbreak on board.

The other passenger being treated at Emory University Hospital is not yet showing any symptoms and is being monitored for hantavirus as a close contact.
