We have a heartbreaking update to share on the Minneapolis school schooting, which was carried out by a sick, demonic transgender man yesterday at Annunciation Catholic school.

The two child victims who were killed by this monster while in the middle of prayer have been identified as 10-year-old Harper Moyski and 8-year-0ld Fletcher Merkel.

In addition, 13-year-old Endre Gunter is in recovery post-surgery, while 12-year-old Sophia Forchas is still in critical condition.

The father of Fletcher Merkel gave a heartbreaking speech on his son:

"Give your kids an extra hug and kiss today." The father of one of the children killed in the shooting at a Minneapolis, Minnesota, school on Wednesday asked for "empathy" as his family tries "to make sense of such a senseless act of violence."

Harper’s parents released this statement following the horrific tragedy:

We are devastated to share that our beloved daughter, Harper Moyski, was tragically killed in the recent school shooting. Harper was a bright, joyful, and deeply loved 10-year-old whose laughter, kindness, and spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Our hearts are broken not only as parents, but also for Harper’s sister, who adored her big sister and is grieving an unimaginable loss. As a family, we are shattered, and words cannot capture the depth of our pain.

We also grieve for our fellow Annunciation family in mourning and for those hurt yesterday. We are grateful for the staff and first responders who did so much for so many yesterday.

While our immediate focus is on Harper and our family’s healing, we also believe it is important that her memory fuels action. No family should ever have to endure this kind of pain. We urge our leaders and communities to take meaningful steps to address gun violence and the mental health crisis in this country. Change is possible, and it is necessary–so that Harper’s story does not become yet another in a long line of tragedies.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support. Harper’s light will always shine through us, and we hope her memory inspires others to work toward a safer, more compassionate world.

At this time, we kindly ask the media and community to respect our privacy as we mourn and honor Harper’s life together. We need space to grieve, to support Harper’s sister, and to hold tightly to one another.

Sophia Forcas, whose mother is a nurse and made the gut-wrenching discovery that her daughter had been shot while responding to the shooting, is still fighting for her life in intensive care:

Minneapolis school shooting victim’s mother was a nurse who went to work to treat victims, before realizing her daughter had been shot.

The mother of 12 year old Sophia Forchas, who is currently fighting for her life, was dispatched to the school to treat victims before realizing that the school that had been attacked was her daughter’s.

Her daughter was among 14 children wounded in the shooting. 2 children, aged 8 and 10 were killed.

She is currently in intensive care fighting for her life.

Sophia’s brother also attended the school, but was uninjured.

The fundraiser says Sophia’s mother is a pediatric critical care nurse and had arrived to work “before knowing it was her children’s school that was attacked, and that her daughter was critically injured.”

Sophia underwent emergency surgery, according to the GoFundMe, and is recovering in the ICU.

“Her road ahead will be long, uncertain, and incredibly difficult — but she is strong, and she is not alone,” the campaign says.

Sophia’s brother was also inside the school during the shooting, the fundraiser says.

“Though he was physically unharmed, the trauma of witnessing such a terrifying event — and knowing his sister was critically injured — is something no child should ever experience,” it says.

Father Timothy Sas of St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis confirmed Sophia, a seventh grader, had been treated at Hennepin County Medical Center in a statement posted to the church’s Facebook page on Wednesday. He said he had spent “a good portion of the day” at the hospital with Sophia and her family.

“Sophia was born and raised in our St. Mary’s parish, immersed in the life of the Church together with her extended family of several generations who are devoted members of our congregation,” Sas wrote in the statement.

Hennepin Healthcare said in response to an inquiry that Sophia’s mother is an employee in the pediatric intensive care unit where the girl is in critical condition. The campaign lists Sophia’s father, Thomas Forchas, as a co-organizer. He did not immediately return a request for an interview. The husband of the organizer of the GoFundMe campaign declined to comment when reached by PEOPLE on Thursday and said Sophia’s parents also did not wish to speak publicly.

Several other children were also injured in the shooting.

Thankfully, they are all expected to recover.

Per ABC News:

An 8-year-old and 10-year-old who were sitting in pews were killed and 18 others were injured in the Wednesday morning mass shooting, police said. The shooter opened fire through a church window during a Mass that marked the first week of school.

Fifteen of the injured victims were children ages 6 to 15, and the three adults who were shot were parishioners in their 80s, police said. All of those injured are expected to survive, police said.

Please pray for all of the victims and their families in this time of unimaginable loss and grief.
