Some tragic news has been reported in New York City.

New York City authorities have reported that three homeless people have been found dead as temperatures in New York dropped significantly due to the ongoing Winter storm.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that all three deaths are believed to be due to brutal winter weather that has hit the Empire State.

NBC New York reported more on the tragic news:

Three people were found dead across New York City on Saturday, when temperatures had dropped down into the teens.

NYPD officials confirmed three bodies had been found — two in Brooklyn and one in Manhattan — between 7 and 9 a.m. None of the bodies had physical signs of trauma and investigators suspected each died from weather-related circumstances, according to sources familiar with the matter.

A 67-year-old man was first discovered on a sidewalk around 7:45 a.m. on 3rd Avenue, police said. The second and third bodies were found almost two hours later.

Officials said a man in his 30s was spotted on an outdoor staircase at a building along Warren Street in Brooklyn. Across the borough in Canarsie, a woman in her 60s was discovered outside around the same time.

The city’s medical examiner will conduct individual investigations to determine the official causes of death for each of the people found Saturday morning.

The deaths come just weeks after Democrat mayor Zohran Madani was inaugurated as the city’s mayor.

NBC New York reported what Mamdani had warned residents prior to the storm hitting New York City:

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani spoke about the city’s preparations ahead of the anticipated snowstorm, warning that temperatures will be more chilling this weekend than they have been in eight years.

Snowfall is expected to start around midnight and fall at its heaviest rate tomorrow morning and early afternoon, Mamdani said.

“By early Monday morning, the heaviest of the weather will have passed, although some precipitation could continue through the day,” Mamdani said. “We expect at least 8 to 9 inches of snow, and likely more. This will not just be snow. This storm will also bring with it intense cold, a prolonged period of frigid temperatures that will last through the next week.”

Many locations across the tri-state on Saturday recorded seeing record high temperatures, including reporting sites at JFK and LaGuardia airports.

Mamdani has since responded to the incident by announcing the locations of warming centers in New York City:
