The Senate has voted against a resolution that would limit President Trump’s Iran war powers by requiring Congressional approval before he could take any actions.
In a win for President Trump, the resolution failed in a vote of 47-53.

The vote was largely along party lines — with two notable exceptions.Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia introduced the war powers resolution days before the U.S. bombed three locations central to Iran’s nuclear program, seeking to force the president to get congressional authorization before entering the conflict between Israel and Iran.
“The events of this week have demonstrated that war is too big to be consigned to the decisions of any one person,” Kaine said on the Senate floor ahead of the vote.
Since the measure was introduced, Mr. Trump announced a ceasefire between the adversaries and declared that Iran’s nuclear sites were “obliterated” during the 12-day war. On Friday, Mr. Trump said he would “without question” consider bombing Iran again if Tehran was enriching uranium to a level that concerned the U.S.
One Republican voted in favor of the resolution.
Can you guess who?…
If you said Sen. Rand Paul, you’d be correct.
Here’s what he had to say about why he voted for the resolution:
Looks like someone’s still salty about not being invited to President Trump’s White House picnic…The Constitution is clear – Congress, not the President, has the power to declare war.@SenTimKaine’s resolution offers every member of Congress an opportunity to stand up for the Constitution, American service members, and America’s strategic interests. pic.twitter.com/WNA7ocxCen

Even Thomas Massie voted against the resolution following President Trump’s ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran.
But, in another twist, one Democrat sided with the majority of Republican senators to vote against the resolution.
That was Sen. John Fetterman, who has recently been vocal about his support for President Trump’s actions against Iran.
Maybe these two need to switch parties already…
JUST IN: Republican senators almost unanimously (except Rand Paul) voted NO on the Iran War Powers Resolution by democrats.![]()
It would have limited President Trump’s ability to take military action without congressional approval.
