What was Trey Gowdy thinking?

That's what many Trump supporters are asking after the South Carolina congressman offered words of support for the FBI after it was revealed that the Bureau had an informant on the Trump campaign. (RELATED: Trey Gowdy Is Completely Clueless on Russian Collusion).

Gowdy defended the FBI's use of Stefan Halper to gather information on Trump campaign officials. Gowdy never actually reviewed the relevant material to the FBI's operation, and many questioned why he felt the need to comment on the matter at all. You can see all of Gowdy's remarks in the interview below:

Sean Hannity is not happy with Gowdy's about-face. For months, Gowdy, as chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has been digging into the Department of Justice's actions during the 2016 election as it relates to the Trump campaign. (RELATED: Trey Gowdy and Bob Goodlatte Strike Deal for Documents from DOJ).

Here's what Hannity said about Gowdy, via the Washington Examiner:

Fox News anchor Sean Hannity ripped into House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., for casting doubt on President Trump's claims an FBI “spy” may have been embedded in his 2016 campaign for political purposes.

“Gowdy apparently doesn't get it. He's actually defending the FBI's use of spies in its overall investigation into Russian collusion,” Hannity said during the opening of his show Wednesday evening.

“This phony narrative. And frankly, I've always liked Trey Gowdy. Shame on Trey Gowdy,” Hannity continued later in the program.

You can see Hannity sound off below:

It is strange that Gowdy is siding with the FBI on this. Gowdy is a law-and-order guy, but what the FBI did is, at the very least, questionable. Not only do we know the Bureau lied about when its investigation of the Trump campaign began, we still don't know why it started, or why former FBI Director James Comey kept the investigation under wraps.

We need to find out why Halper was informing to the FBI, and if the agency purposefully put him on the Trump campaign.

What do you think? Do you agree with Gowdy or Hannity? Tell us your thoughts below!

The last few months Trey Gowdy has been a total disappointment. I don't know since he is leaving office he just doesn't care anymore or what. Sometimes I 'm starting to think he is working for the other side.

We thought he was going to be able to prosecute (or recommend prosecution) of Hillary for the Benghazi debacle / cover-up. Now, he's supporting the F.B.I.'s spying on the Trump campaign. What the heck!?

Strange / interesting times we're living in.

Originally I thought there was no use in recommending charges against Hillary during the Obama's presidency. It's not like Loretta Lynch or anyone would do that --- they'd give her a free pass. She's a Democrat, she's allowed. But now those days are over so I have to wonder what they are waiting for. It seems they are just giving her enough rope to hang herself as this bogus "Trump collusion" and all the other traps they are trying to set to get Pres. Trump on anything they can. As for Gowdy I just don't get it, maybe he was giving the Left a sense to relax and feel free to talk more on TV and expose themselves.

Where is Jeff Sessions!? We thought that after Trump was sworn in, investigations / prosecutions of Obama and Hillary's corruption would begin. Alas, they didn't. Why not!?

Just who in the heck are these people, anyway? Why are they above the law?! We can NOT have two sets of laws and expect this country to survive.

I wondered the same thing, "Where is JEFF SESSIONS!" What is he doing, has be been threatened. It does not make any sense. Not Sessions but leadership in the House and Senate. They should be making the case in press conferences for the arrest of Hillary Clinton and with the testimony of 28 FBI agents there will be more arrests. Hillary just might start singing if she alone looks like she is taking the fall.

Even aside from the Russia b.s., we rarely hear GOP senators and congressmen supporting President Trump's agenda. Every other day Chuck Schumer is railing at his podium about the president and the GOP. Why aren't we hearing McConnell and Ryan speak about our agenda?

Sessions and the GOP are M.I.A.

Did we win this election or didn't we!?
