RINO Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska has just announced that he will not seek re-election in the 2026 midterms.

Earlier this year, Rep. Bacon said that he was considering retirement.

But, at the time, he hadn’t decided yet.

Republican Rep. Don Bacon is considering retirement.

The Nebraska lawmaker told NOTUS on Friday that he is talking with his family about whether or not to run for reelection next year.

“I”ll make any final decisions in late summer,” Bacon told NOTUS. “It is a family decision.”

Now, he has decided that he’s finished, which is good news for America!

NBC News confirmed:

Rep. Don Bacon, a centrist Republican who represents a key battleground district in Nebraska, is planning to announce his retirement from Congress, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

He is expected to make a formal announcement as soon as next week, when the House is poised to vote on President Donald Trump’s sweeping legislation dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill.”

Rep. Bacon is a longtime Trump hater, who once labeled the America-First movement as Nazis.

He never even deleted this very out-of-touch tweet:

Rep. Bacon was also opposed to nominating Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary and has repeatedly criticized him.

For instance, he said he’d “fire” Hegseth in this clip from CNN:

Rep. Bacon’s retirement leaves a seat open for a true, America-First patriot to take over.

However, it’s also in a district that voted blue during the last two elections, so it’s also possible that a Democrat could replace his seat.

JOE BIDEN and KAMALA HARRIS both won the Omaha based seat.

This will become a prime pickup opportunity for Democrats in 2026.

The Hill noted:

His district, which includes Omaha, was won by former Vice President Harris in the 2024 election and presents an opportunity for Democrats to pick up the “blue dot” district Bacon has held since 2016.

The five-term lawmaker is expected to hold a press conference on Monday. The Hill has reached out to Bacon’s team for comment.

Bacon, a long-time critic of President Trump, has signaled his openness to retirement in recent months, per local media.

His decision to step aside opens the door for Democrats in the competitive district as it seeks to gain control of the House in 2026.
