Rep. Nancy Pelosi Will Endorse JFK’s Grandson For U.S. House Seat

RFK Jr. may soon be joined in Washington, D.C. by another member of the Kennedy family.

Last year, Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, announced his campaign for New York’s 12th Congressional District.

Schlossberg, who is running as a Democrat, announced his campaign after longtime representative Jerry Nadler announced his plans to retire.

Now, Schlossberg is about to receive his biggest endorsement from a Democrat yet, and that is from Rep. Nancy Pelosi.

CNN had more details on Pelosi’s expected endorsement of Schlossberg:

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to endorse Jack Schlossberg in his run for a hotly contested US House seat, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Schlossberg, John F. Kennedy’s grandson and a cousin of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., announced his run in the Democratic primary to represent New York’s 12th Congressional District last November. He is JFK’s first direct descendent and latest member of his family to run for elected office.

The seat is held by retiring Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler, who has represented the New York City district since 1992.

Pelosi, one of the most powerful figures in Democratic politics for decades, did not respond to CNN’s request for comment. While retiring at the end of her term, the California lawmaker hasn’t shied from voicing opinions about her party.

Unlike his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Schlossberg has let the public know he’s no fan of Trump.

Schlossberg even mocked Melania Trump, per Newsweek:

Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of the late President John F. Kennedy, recently shared a video on Instagram where he donned a blonde wig and read aloud First Lady Melania Trump’s letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, mocking her.

In a letter shared to the first lady’s social media, Melania Trump appealed to Putin to “singlehandedly restore” the “melodic laughter” of children caught up in the nearly three-and-a-half years of full-scale war in Ukraine.

The letter comes as President Donald Trump met with Putin in Alaska, as relations have soured due to Russia’s refusal to ink a ceasefire deal brokered by the U.S. to stop fighting in Ukraine. Though no deal was reached, Trump has described the summit as “useful,” pivoting his position on a ceasefire and saying that he would move straight to a permanent peace deal.

Ukraine has consistently said it wants to end the full-scale war in a lasting way. The current phase of the conflict sparked when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
