Rashida Tlaib jumped to an ill-advised conclusion and was forced to delete a tweet blaming “white supremacy” for a Jersey City shooting that left several people dead.
“This is heartbreaking,” Tlaib wrote, sharing a profile of one of the victims. “White supremacy kills.”
Unfortunately, reality wasn't on her side with this argument.
Both alleged shooters were black and, according to the New York Times, have been linked to a group known as the ‘Black Hebrew Israelites.'
The organization has been labeled a hate group, while the suspect in question reportedly has a history of writing anti-Semitic and anti-police posts.

Tlaib's embarrassing gaffe is a clear sign that reflexively ideological, race-driven, Pavlovian responses are never a good idea prior to getting actual facts.
Upon realizing the mistake, Tlaib pulled the original tweet and never posted any update decrying the guilty parties. Why? Because that doesn't fit her narrative that all white people are bad.
Not to mention, the Michigan congresswoman is herself, a rabid anti-Semite.

Tlaib wasn't the only raging ignoramus to automatically assume white supremacists had carried out the attack.
Joy Behar, co-host of ‘The View,' continued the tradition of people on that show saying the dumbest thing they can think of on a daily basis.
In response to the Jersey City attack, Behar went with the standard kneejerk reaction.
“You will concede that the nationals — these white nationalists have been let out of their holes,” she asked former New Jersey governor Chris Christie.
Behar, however, took it a step further, blaming President Trump for stoking anti-Semitic flames and giving rise to the ‘white nationalists.'
“The liar in chief is the one who's spouting all this stuff! He's the one,” she falsely claimed. “Well just the other day he used an anti-Semitic trope. Trump did. I mean, he's the worst one! And he's at the top!”
Neither Tlaib nor Behar will apologize. The shooters don't fit their profile. In their minds, only white people can be violent, bigoted, racists.

Competing With Joy Behar For Dumbest Response
