Will Attorney General Jeff Sessions soon be on the chopping block?

President Trump hinted as much last night, during a briefing on what his administration plans to do regarding the chemical attack in Syria. During the meeting, Trump addressed the FBI's raid on the offices of his personal lawyer Michael Cohen. He took the opportunity to blast Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the Special Counsel, and Rod Rosenstein.

From the Daily Mail:

President Trump again lashed out at his Attorney General Jeff Sessions on the heels of his personal attorney Michael Cohen's office and home being raided by the FBI.

‘The attorney general made a terrible mistake when he did this and when he recused himself, or he should have certainly let us know if he was going to recuse himself, and we would have used a, put a different attorney general in,' the president said late Monday afternoon. ‘So he made what I consider to be a very terrible mistake for the country. But you'll figure that out.'

The president also brought up Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who Bloomberg reported had signed off on the Cohen raid after being approached by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, noting how Rosenstein had agreed that Trump should fire ex-FBI Director James Comey, which prompted Rosenstien's appointment of Mueller.

Admitting to a mistake is very unlike Trump. What's even more bizarre is that Trump freely admits he made the wrong call appointing Sessions as attorney general, yet he has so far refrained from firing him.

This time could be different. The raid on Cohen's office is the most personal Robert Mueller has gotten with his probe. Trump has warned before that if the Special Counsel looks into Trump's past business dealings, he'll be crossing a “red line.” With raiding Cohen's office, Mueller, who farmed out the search warrant to federal prosecutors in Manhattan, didn't just cross the red line – he ran across it and spiked a football on the other side.

Others, including former Trump advisor Steve Cortes, are calling on Trump to clean house at the Justice Department:
