The California High School Track and Field Championships have been in the news since news hit that a BOY would be competing against the girls.
Didn’t President Trump already address this issue? (Yes — but apparently that fight isn’t over yet.)
Police had to step in Saturday night when things got rowdy.
One protester was arrested, but I’m seeing video that shows at least one other person was detained.
AB Hernandez smoked the girls he competed against in the preliminaries, and that’s when things got sketchy.
The plane flying overhead with a “NO BOYS IN GIRLS’ SPORTS!” banner might have gotten under the skin of those who rallied in favor of Hernandez’ lofty goal of beating his FEMALE competition:
But after Hernandez easily outmatched the girls, chants of “No boys in girls’ sports” started up from the crowd. No Boys In Girls Sports banner flying over CIF Track and Field Chanpionship at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis CA! CA democrats take note. pic.twitter.com/GrJeEFKvJO

That’s when the pro-trans protesters took it up a notch.
The local Fox affiliate posted this clip showing the protester who was arrested just outside the event, and another that was allegedly pepper sprayed:
Here’s the full screen video for convenience:A protester was caught on video Friday attacking a vehicle outside the California Interscholastic Federation State Track and Field Championships taking place in Clovis this weekend. The person shown to be in cuffs, obviously suffering from pepper spray, may have only been detained — there is no confirmation of that arrest that I can find.A protester was caught on video Friday attacking a vehicle outside the California Interscholastic Federation State Track and Field Championships taking place in Clovis this weekend. But the LGBTQ protester shown in the video attacking the man filming from his vehicle was arrested, as reported by Fox News:
I found an interview that just came out of the man who was attacked by that protester. The California track and field state championship prelim round in Clovis on Friday was a scene of conflicting beliefs and even police intervention amid an ongoing controversy involving a trans athlete competing in the girls’ category.
At least one person was arrested, the Clovis Police Department confirmed Fox News Digital. The person arrested was a protester who is accused of shattering a car window with a flag pole. The department confirmed the person arrested was an LGBTQ activist.
The person has been arrested for assault with a weapon and obstructing a police, according to Sergeant Chris Hutchison.
“We don’t have room for violence or property damage or anything like that,” Hutchison.
“California is beginning to reap the consequences of defying federal law and brazenly harming girls,” said Kim Jones, co-founder of ICONS in a press release announcing the aerial banner.
“How long will Governor Newsom and legislators in this state continue to prioritize granting a few boys the right to take opportunities and recognition away from girls? Not one single boy should ever be in girls’ sports. It’s the easiest problem in the world to solve—and the most brazen public ‘screw you’ to female athletes by Democrat leadership. Since when do we tell a single boy he is more important than every girl in the competition? That he has the right to ruin sports for all of them? It’s time for California to pay and it’s time to right these wrongs.”
Witnesses at the event told Fox News Digital that pro-transgender protesters attended the event in support of transgender athlete AB Hernandez.
The meet and the California Interscholastic Federation’s (CIF) entire track and field postseason has been under a national microscope in recent weeks. Trans athlete AB Hernandez of Jurupa Valley High School has dominated the girls’ track and field postseason in 2025, prompting national backlash and even the attention of President Donald Trump.
He basically holds that this is a simple issue, and it shouldn’t be a point of conflict.
Check out that clip:
There has actually been a rule change for the event because of the controversy.
But that hasn’t stopped the conflict.
Here’s a report from the local NBC affiliate that reported live from the event last night.
Their coverage includes an explanation of the rule change designed to calm the turmoil:
The problem with that rule change is that the girls competing still have to “share” a podium.
That’s just ridiculous and demeaning.
How about we have girls compete against girls, and boys compete against boys?
Hernandez went on to completely obliterate all the female ‘competition’, according to the Daily Mail:
After President Trump already addressed this issue, I’m seeing this as intentional pushback from the pro-trans groups who want payback.Trans athlete Hernandez made headlines after beating her biologically female opponents at the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Masters Meet last weekend for a spot in this week’s State Championships
And she continued to controversially dominate as the preliminary qualifying events for the state finals kickstarted at Buchanan High School, Clovis on Friday afternoon.
Hernandez sealed her place in three finals – high jump, long jump and triple jump – which will take place Saturday, after coming out on top in all preliminary heats.
She finished the triple jump with a mark close to 41 feet, nearly 10 inches ahead of her closest competitor, San Francisco Bay Area junior Kira Gant Hatcher.
Hernandez also led in the long jump with a mark close to 20 feet to advance to the final. She advanced in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 5 inches with ease.
The prelim results now leave the transgender athlete in prime position to claim a podium finish over her opponents in Saturday’s finals.
However, her participation continued to spark outrage as many gathered to voice their furious opposition to the CIF’s decision to allow her to compete.
One protestor, Fernando Banuelos from Fresno, CA told Daily Mail: ‘It’s unfair AB Hernandez is competing today. He is taking away from actually biological females. The reason he is competing with women is he can’t beat men.’
This has all the looks of a setup, designed to create upheaval.
Unfortunately for them, they might get more legal pushback than they expected, if the Trump Administration does what I expect and takes California to court over the whole thing.
I’m looking for a response from President Trump. And judging from his past involvement in this issue, he’ll probably come out swinging.
